There are different social classes in America based on lifestyle, wealth and opportunities. Some people believe that the social class system is divided into three groups which include poor, middle, and upper class. However, many sociologists divide the American society into five groups, these being the upper, upper-middle, middle, working and lower class. This division is made on a critical theory based on social facts which shape the social structure based on the role of ideology and capitalism. Due to capitalism, the division of society happened in which ideology play an important role. As Marx discussed in his theory that people with fewer opportunities remain unable to recognize their strength and therefore, accepted the society shaped by the people who achieved status through production and profit. This division of social class can be observed in T.V shows where each class is presented uniquely. The main purpose of the paper is to analyze how TV shows portray different social classes. With the advancement in technology and the introduction of television, internet and other non-verbal communication media, sociological imagination and mediated interaction have shown a dramatic change in the sociology and life of people. People visualize the social structures they see in TV shows and news.

Structural functionalism depicts social structure through macro-level orientation and television shows use this sociology term to distinguish class with the help of customs, norms, dressing, lifestyle, and traditions. One such TV show is “Billions” produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. In this TV show, the upper class is portrayed through a blue-collar job. The lead actors acquired a high position in the well-known industry. Their social class can be identified through their high profile dressing, education and knowledge level. Another social class that is middle class also known as the working class. They are known as working-class because they play a vital role in the process of production and for economic growth by providing their services. This image can be observed in the TV show “Roseanne” in which the middle class is presented through the story revolving around the Conner family. The TV show is famous for portraying the realistic image of the middle class. The TV show portrayed that the family had limited income in which they had to fulfill their necessities and other wants. Besides job and opportunities, the location of the house and its size also depict the wealth and access of the family to the sources. The TV shows indicated that middle-class work for their basic necessities. They acquire education, quality food, shelter, and other consumptions by spending hours working. People whether from the upper class, middle class or lower class have their own certain problems. For instance, in the game of throne portrayed the brotherhood protecting the kingdom against the violent individuals and mythical creations of the north. The episode that I have observed showed the lifestyle of the royal family. They acquire all the necessities and had a luxurious lifestyle with numbers of poor people working for them. The show indicates the exchange relationship and unanticipated consequences between poor and royals, also between two powerful groups. The association that the researcher is up to is that intimate partner violence is associated with poor agreement in describing its appearance to their partners. This means that when IPV occur partners are not able to communicate it effectively o their partners. There an experience of poor agreement between the partners about the presence of the intimate partner violence. The main aim of this study according to the researcher is to test the desirability that comes socially to both partners in a relationship through expressing their aggression that is physically, sexually, psychologically and injuries from the use of substance. Research was carried out and it displayed that men who are more likely to be involved in cheating are less likely to experience male-to-female sexual coercion

Intimate partner violence; this is a problem that tend to bring about poor outcomes in a relationship. It is an emotional, sexual and physical abuse between partners. It happens to many relationships and there is always a disagreement between partners of the occurrence of the intimate partner’s violence. This disagreement makes it difficult to solve the issue.

Analysis conducted displays how male and female perceive IPV status and the analysis shows that social desireability is faced with less IPV. There is therefore a likelihood of answering questions that are positive rather than the actual occurrences so there is tendency of under reporting.

The psychological, physical aggression and injuries that are caused but the intimate partner violence are different on the bases of female to male or male to female. Male to female has however displayed poor agreement and female to male displayed no agreement at all.


The findings show that there is poor agreement between partners when it comes to IPV matters. The issue should be taken to a clinician and should not be used to weigh the side that does not fully represent the relationship better. The differences in the intimate partner violence are different between partners and the difference should not be used to gauge the commitment that one has towards the relationship.

Mayan culture is depicted in this movie that shows that girls get married at their early ages and they are sometimes exposed to intimate relations before their marriage. Ixcanul's movie shows that how power is misused to suppress those who are considered as superior because of their gender. Feminism and patriarchy are two theories that are reflected in this movie. Are age marriages in some cultures such as Mayan culture are some of long-existing issues of feminism and these issues are the result of misuse of power of patriarchy.

Women are culturally labeled as those workers who have to work within the boundaries of their homes, and they are not allowed to go out of their walls. Maria in this move was the central role who was going to get married and the decision was to be made by her parents. This does not reflect arranged marriages, but it shows early marriage for benefit of families in terms of wealth. However, Maria does not show any interest in getting married to any man, she wanted to explore a new world and she ties her interests with Pepe. Both desire to explore a new world and travel to other States. A point comes when Maria realizes that she is pregnant, and she is being abandoned by Pepe which changes her situation.

At this point of movie, I was expecting that her parents after knowing that she is pregnant would chop her or do something for abortion, but it was different, they showed no as such immunity towards societal constraints of patriarchy. Rather she gets suggestions that walking during pregnancy helps for well-being of both baby and mother. While walking in her fields, she gets beaten by a snake and her parents rush her to hospital, later she comes to know that she has lost her child and believes on that news. Ending movies with a depressing scene tends a person to think about the societal constraints for women and how male-power is used against women in their society. I believe that this movie portrayed, how in Mayan culture men can use their power against suppressed people especially women in such cultures. Some cultural patterns are shaped in a way that they lead to suppressions, discrimination, and inequalities towards women, who are thought to be inferior as compared to men. These notions have to be challenged by women like Maria and her mother stood for themselves by desiring to live a life beyond the volcano.

From a sociologist's outlook, this particular problem can be explained both from the functionalist and conflict theory perspective. There are various reasons for unemployment, and some of the common and most important causes are political and economic instability and poor governance by an incompetent leader also plays an important role in unemployment.

There are many questions a sociologist can ask about unemployment. In a functionalist society as everyone has a purpose so a sociologist may ask the question that if the population of the world is so high then how is it possible for an individual to serve only one role? Functionalists believe that unemployment has a basic purpose in a given society, and also it plays its vital part. But it is also noteworthy that for all those unemployed people it is quite difficult to see what good is there to be unemployed both for the individual and society. There have been given various definitions of social issues but according to James. H. Henslin any aspect of society about which people are concerned and want to change can be termed as a social issue. Most common social issues found in almost all societies are crimes, poverty, gender differences, racism, sexual harassment and a few others. With the advancement of time, it has been witnessed that women started raising their voice for their rights from the last few decades. By spinning the wheel of history, it has become obvious that women were treated inhumanely but at present they are making their presence known in all fields of life (O’Connor,et,al,2018). Women leadership has become a hot topic for the past few years as women are playing an important role in leadership, but despite the increasing number of females in boardrooms and senior management, still the role of women in leadership is considered against societal norms. Women are not being accepted as leaders because of the conventional and conservative mindset which needs to be changed as per the demand of time.


Women who are already playing the role of a leader in any institution or those who wish to play a constructive role in leadership are facing many difficulties as the role of women in leadership has become a major social issue. One of the main reasons behind this social issue is the conventional thought that men are dominant and they should be at the top positions as leadership is being considered as something only inherited by man. Leadership is directly linked with process of influencing someone for something and traditional gender roles claim that only men have the right to rule the society. Gender equality is hardly accepted in society so accepting women as leaders could be next to impossible. The role of women in leadership has become a social issue because of psychological dominance of men which make them fear the dominance of women. Women are being discriminated everywhere despite reaching the top positions in universities. Women leadership is facing a number of challenges at workplace. Not only women face sexual harassment but at the same time they are being burdened with roles that are assigned by the conservative society.

Taking in account the discriminatory attitude, at local, national and international levels, women stepped into leadership roles for correcting attitude that supports inequalities. In a society, men are being given the position and authority to make decisions even when the due subject is women. Men are the ones who come to a final decision on all matters. Though it is the modern era but rituals which were practiced centuries before are still there and gender equality is still a far-fetched dream. It has become a social issue as challenges to the conventional role that has been assigned by the society. Taking a look at the past it has been seen that men were given the responsibility to run organizations and earn bread for their family. Making decision was considered to be the sole responsibility of a man. Role of women in leadership is affecting the professional environment as it inculcates a sense of inferiority and frustration for most of the men who work under women leadership. Decisions taken by women at the workplace are challenged as it has been claimed that men can make more logical decisions regarding a business.

There have been observed a number of negative impacts associated with this social issue at the workplace. Women had to suffer from many issues as she has been kept limited by social restrictions. Another major negative aspect of women leadership is cultural shift that questions women for making decisions as they would be held responsible for all consequences. Despite being in top management they have to face issues of sexual harassment. They are discriminated and their decisions are going to be tested over and over before giving a final judgment. One of the main negative aspects attached with this social issue is that women lack the skill to handle pressure as compared to men. Working and leading an organization means one has to learn how to handle pressure.

The fact cannot be denied that despite living in twenty first century and concurring all the fields of life still women are not looked upon as one who are equal to men. Keeping gender dominance in view, it has been seen that most of the organizations do not give female leaders the right of making decisions which they deserve, because those men who are against the equality concept they took the act of decision making by female leaders as their insult (Eagly,et,al,2016). Female leadership is going to affect those male workers majorly who are against women leadership and cannot bear women as their leaders.

Taking a look at statistics, it has been seen that most of the leadership positions are secured by women who in turn are generating more opportunities for women for getting jobs and academic opportunities, it is going to heat up the competition for males. Women leadership is challenging the set norms of society where men were supposed to lead and women were supposed to take care of families. Women leaders are vulnerable to become targets of prejudice. Most of the people used to say that women as leaders lack the stereotypical assertive and directive qualities. Women leaders are mostly disapproved for their strict and masculine behaviour.

Undoubtedly, role of women in leadership is still a social issue but evidences and reports show that the attitudinal prejudice against female leaders have lessened considerably. Workers at most of the workplaces say that they would work under women leadership but certain barriers are still in place which makes this topic social issue. Women have got place in boardrooms which manifest that gender relations have changed dramatically but still women at workplace have not arrived at equality between the sexes.

It would be wrong to say that women leadership at workplace only have negative aspects, there could be seen positive aspects of this social issue as well. Women leaders at workplace could produce positive environment as they acknowledge the efforts of their workers. They love to appreciate those who work harder by encouraging and rewarding them. Female leaders are more understanding and friendly that gives the workers a friendly environment and confidence to put their suggestions that would work best in favor of the organization (Rast,et,al,2018). At workplace female leaders proved that they communicate better the men. Healthy communication is the main thing that is needed for knowing the thoughts and ideas of others. Many researches have shown that productivity and profit of organizations led by women leaders are much better than the organizations that are headed by male leaders. Women leaders are good listeners and their emotional side forces them to resolve the personal concerns of workers which gives the workers a sense that they really belong to the organization and in turn the employees put their best efforts for making their organization number one.

Education, training, governmental policies, awareness programs and positive social change is needed for promoting the role of women leadership. Various ways could be used for reforming the attitudes of men who think that women as leaders are threatening their careers and future. It is the responsibility of concerned authorities and government to make such policies that would promote and protect women who are effectively playing their roles in organizations and are making work environment better by showing their dedication.


Taking into account all the facts and figures, it is asserted that women are playing a significant role for making the workplace a better place by using their femininity. Despite knowing the fact that women as leaders in organizations are performing exceptionally well and are benefitting the economy, they had to face many issues. Firstly women are not being given chances to lead organizations but if they are given the chance, they have to face more issues than male leaders. It is important to take into consideration what time is demanding and what is the need of the hour. It is time to break the conventions that are of no use at present. Women leaders should be appreciated and provided confidence for their skills and abilities. Though the trend of gender role conflict is getting resolved but still there is a need to work for changing the mind set of people who become an obstacle in the way of women who are playing an important role at workplaces. Gender should not be considered as the base when it is about the productivity of an organization rather talent, management, skills and ability should be considered the topmost priority for judging how women leaders are contributing to their workplaces.

As teens spend most of their time on the internet and social media they disconnect themselves from reality. Survival without screens is now impossible because teens are living in a technological world. Millennials are spending more time on social media that distances them from real people such as their family and friends. People are believing in what they see on social media. In reality, people may appear differently in reality than on social media. Teens are comparing themselves to the brighter lives of other people posted on social media. This causes adverse impacts on adolescents including discouragement, emotional and aggressive outrage.

Paradox-effect created by social media disconnects teens from reality. Youth is obsessed with social media relationships but lack social skills in real life. They may be inclined to have more dates on online platforms but are unable to communicate effectively in real life. As teens are lacking security that causes depression and anxiety. Social engagement is assessed by teens on the basis of selfies posted by people on social websites and photos. People are only sharing their positive selfies that portray the image of a perfect life. While in reality, they may be leading an entirely different life, lacking reality or originality. Social media has provided the opportunity of adding other layers to their personality, permitting them to convey positive facade. Because teens are convinced to portray a different side of their personality on social websites they become more self-conscious. They may not look as cool or perfect in real life so they start living in a delusional world.

Dependence on social media is linked to isolation, anxiety and depression. The notions displayed on various social websites are celebratory. The altering truth follows the ideology of ‘keeping us with the Joneses'. It states that an individual relying on social website believes in the unreal world showing that everyone that you know is having a great relationship. On online platforms, teens are convinced by the idea that everyone is living a dream and ideal life expect them. Teens have developed the habit of comparing themselves with the highlights of other people's lives. The true identity of people is masked on social platforms. Social media is altering the truth by portraying the notion that active social life cannot exist without online interaction CITATION Kat163 \l 1033 (Rost, Stahel, & Frey, 2016). This brings adolescents to a state of presenting a façade of who they actually are. Their existence on social media is entirely different from their real-life story. One who appears to be coolest and happiest often lacks both in the outside world. Teens are inclined to believe what social websites show them even if it lacks reality. When an individual finds his real self different from the online version it results in negative feelings of depression and dissatisfaction.

Teens fail to consider the facts that lives are different in the outside world. This develops feelings of dissatisfaction and low self-esteem. Teens are more inclined to fall for the lies paradox because what majority share on online platforms is not a complete story. Every person looks cool and happy on the website but this is limited to the social sites. In reality, everyone is having a challenging life, full of difficulties. Youth in real life encounter different situations and the majority is living a basic life. But on social media, they have created a distinctive life by presenting themselves as perfect teens. This is because on social websites youth is only showcasing the brighter side of their lives CITATION Cla171 \l 1033 (Silva, 2017). Teens are addicted to seeing updates of their friends that encourage them to share their lives also. Youth is tempted to the unreal version of life created on online platforms. This causes self-destruction and hopelessness in the long-term. low self-esteem is linked to the altering truth created by social media. When teens fail to attain the same happiness or appreciation in real lives they are more likely to feel less worthy.

De-individuation is the result of more dependence on online platforms. Dr Manoj Fernando, a professor at Rajrata University explains that increased dependence on social media and technology has disconnected youth from reality. This is against the development and wellbeing of teens. De-individuation is caused by addiction to social media. Fernando mentions, “people want to know what is happening around them and for this, they make use of media like Facebook. A result of this would be de-individuation, where people would be disconnected from the outside world” CITATION Kam19 \l 1033 (Wickramasinghe, 2019). Although on social media teens have many friends but in real-life they are alone. They are more concerned about increasing their friend list and getting more likes but in real life their social circle is limited. Today youth is living an isolated life due to their reliance on social media. They find relationships at online platforms more positive and encouraging that motivates them to disconnect from real relationships.

The current generation has adopted social media means for maintaining social relationships that are limited to the online world. Youth may have many friends on social sites that do not guarantee their active social life in the outside world. It is claimed that teens that are more active on social websites lack a real social life. The more friends they make on social sites but in real life, they have very few friends. Such attitudes of adolescents depict that due to increased dependence on social sites they have become more isolated. This represents the lies paradox because they are convinced to show people their pleasant lives but at least concerned about their real lives. Such search of teens exhibits the darker side of the social media that encourage them to rely on fake happiness. Social websites have not served its purpose of removing loneliness or improved quality of life. Although the purpose for teens to join social media platforms is to improve their social engagement and interaction but these sites are working in the opposite manner. Teens have managed to make many friends on such platforms but still, lack social interaction in real life. This indicates that things happening on these sites have no influence on the real lives of individuals.

The social norm theory explains online aggression develops from one’s interaction with socio-political online settings. Different social media platforms promote online aggression that includes Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. Aggression and offensive commenting of the youth on various social media platforms exhibit their disconnection from reality. Such an approach to social media has negative implications. Social media, “raise the likelihood for hostile misinterpretations due to limited discursive action and social media’s absence of nonverbal cues. They reduce the risk for feedback reactions because users can “sneak off” after the aggressive act” CITATION Kat163 \l 1033 (Rost, Stahel, & Frey, 2016). Because youth has started living in an unreal world they are more likely to become affected by the hostile environment created by different online platforms. This has also increased the opportunities for cyberbullying. Aggressive online behaviours undermines positive approach. Such attitudes promote negative feelings such as restlessness and emotional instability.

As teens as relying on the digital version, they are less likely to follow norms. In real life, they may be constrained to engage in inappropriate behaviors such as making bold comments. Evidence suggests that “online aggression takes place more frequently than in the non-digital context because sanctioning of (perceived) norm violations occurs in low-cost situations” CITATION Kat163 \l 1033 (Rost, Stahel, & Frey, 2016). While on the digital world they are free to choose any behavior, irrespective of its consequences. This indicates that social media promote negative behaviors by giving excessive freedom to teens. Under such circumstances, teens care less about their reputation. They are convinced to engage in hurtful behaviors by making derogatory comments.

Teens lack interpersonal relationships in real life even when they have a larger number of friends on social websites. “Facebook users seek to maintain their known social network, post more highly interpersonal and emotional messages, and engage in reciprocal interactions” CITATION Deb18 \l 1033 (Ward, Dill-Shackleford, & Mazurek, 2018). Users of online platforms respond to the people in a reciprocal manner that means a good comment is responded with a good gesture. Similarly, a negative message will receive the same response. Such attitudes of teens on social platforms promote negative feelings of envy and depression. The reality of social media depicts that it undermines the happiness and satisfaction of teens. Youth spending more time on social websites starts believing in the online truth that generates adverse impacts. They have entrapped intro endless streams of stress and anxiety. Researchers have identified the negative influences of truth alteration on the minds of young people. Anxiety is the product of teens tendency of comparing their lives with others on social platforms. Feelings or restlessness and worry are the most commonly reported issues. While teens spending more time on social media also complaints about sleeplessness. Teens spending more time on social media exhibit high levels of anxiety. Social media by altering the truth is causing deteriorating effects on teens.

The overall analysis of social media’s role on teens depicts that it has encouraged them to live a digital world that is different from the outside world. Teens living in the digital world fails to accept that it lacks reality. their desire to creating a perfect image of self convinces them to disconnect from the real world. The argument claims that excessive social interaction on social media masks the true persona of an individual. This represents the lies paradox because they are convinced to show people their pleasant lives but at least concerned about their real lives. Youth is tempted to the unreal version of life created on online platforms. This causes self-destruction and hopelessness in the long-term.

Social media has been under the magnifying glass of researchers ever since Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media tools have entertained young people and adults around the world. Researchers have mapped both the benefits and the adverse effects of social media tools. Today, there is also an increasing focus on how social media mainly affects the developing brains of young people and the mental health of teens. Today's young people are the first generation in human history who can hardly even imagine life without the Internet, smartphones and social media. Mobile devices have become a kind of hand extension that nowadays allow you to do work, enjoy entertainment and communicate with friends and acquaintances. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Of course, it depends a bit on where you look towards. Social media have positive adverse effects on our lives.

On the other hand, the online world, including social media, creates a wealth of new opportunities that we did not even dream about twenty years ago. When used correctly, social media can even have a positive impact on young people's development. However, some believe that the excessive use of social media can also have many adverse effects. For example, excessive use can negatively affect a young person's growth performance. A study of the University of California found that the excessive use of social media may change the way young people spend their daytime activities or communicate with one another. A total of 32 young participants aged 13-18 were selected for the study. Magnetic resonance imaging studies track how young people's minds react, for example, when their pictures or posts on social media get a lot of likes or comments. Participants were shown 148 images added to social media, 40 of which were self-contributed. Research shows that when teens see a lot of likes and comments on their pictures or posts, the nucleus accumbent part of their brain is activated in a casino game. In other words, seeing likes in your own image or update brings the same feelings in mind as, for example, when a player wins while playing slot machines (Anderson, Monica, and Jingjing Jiang45). So it's a very addictive feeling.

Among the good things about social media are that teenagers struggling with themselves and their concerns can find support and advice on a variety of issues. An anonymous atmosphere allows a young person to get the help and information they need without fear of being labelled anything as a result. Youth brings with it many issues and concerns related to growing up and relationships that young people often do not like to discuss with friends or family members. This is where social media provides an excellent platform for finding solutions (Vogel, Erin A., et al250).

The widespread use of social sites such as "Facebook" can lead to slander and quickly spread to all users of the social site. For example, our country has been hit by divorce news that happened on a Facebook account. This has been criticized by the majority of Americans who say that such an act is shameful to us because it has tarnished our personal reputation as a Muslim. Additionally, such implications have left some users of the app irresponsible and sparked controversy in the cyber world, leading to embarrassment. The use of social sites will erode the spirit of brotherhood while undermining the country's sovereignty as a respected and integrated nation (Rook 45).

Researchers at Sheffield University have shown in a long-term study that the use of social media can negatively affect all areas of youth's life. So, if you use Facebook a lot then Instagram, WhatsApp and Co., would be automatically unhappy. The scientists asked children about their overall satisfaction. The results: Children who had access to the Internet were not as happy with their lives as children who grew up ultimately without the Internet. Almost 4,000 children and adolescents aged 10 to 15 years were interviewed. But this dissatisfaction does not have to be. Media-literate parents can educate their children and inform them that the image of the media is often faked. It is their job to teach children that they cannot believe everything they see in the media. Most people want to be as positive as possible - but we should encourage our children to be as authentic as possible. Without a filter, without finishing, without photo studio (Berger, Jonah, Alan, and Scott 815).

While social media has made communication more comfortable than ever, there has been no development without some sorrow. Every rose has a spike, and social media is no exception. However, social media has become an absolutely central and indispensable part of our lives, so with these problems, one has to be able to live rationally and with awareness. As people began to wake up to social media issues, there was widespread panic among parents, and many abandoned their social media accounts.

However, avoiding social media is not the solution to its problems, but its benefits outweigh its potential disadvantages. Instead, it is essential to know how social media works in a broader context and also to understand the possible consequences of using social media. Many people do not neglect the dark sides of social media as they are well aware that without it, modern society cannot live. Ignorance avoids the pain, but knowledge would still be an asset here. Instead of letting go of social media in the face of general panic, consider the following issues and review yourself on how to avoid the biggest stumbling blocks.

Applying for approval

Applying for approval is not new in itself. People around the world have sought permission, and no wonder we have always needed the protection of a herd and support is required to develop a healthy self-image. However, social media has taken this human need to the next level. Much of the social media usage has changed, however, to the fact that one's behavior is determined by the expected level of approval. In this case, the 'own identity' of social media is no longer one of its own, but a 'some identity' seeking approval, which can overshadow its own making and well-being, as it has never been easier to compare the amount of support.


Nowadays, it is effortless to see how much approval others have received, which can lower one's well-being, but the comparison is not over. Through social media, we also follow more closely what others are doing. By looking at the best and polished aspects of other lives, we forget the honest assessment of our own lives. Instead of really connecting with social media, it can often become just a platform for comparing ourselves to one another. In this competition of comparison, reality can easily be distorted.

Focusing on the wrong things

Instead of focusing on important things, such as what's going on in their friends' lives and maintaining their own friendships, many in the social media are deliriously staring at the wrong things. By these wrong things, we mean the likes and followers, rather than focusing on being really social. Be careful that belonging to your friends and family does not become secondary to hoarding likes.

Difficulty concentrating

Social media is full of short articles, clips and GIFs. Where the Internet is whole of thoughtful and educational material, it is often harder to focus on it nowadays when all information is provided in lists and in an easily chewable format. Pointless.

Empty friendships

Social media has made it easier for people to stay in touch with friends and family from a long distance. But it has also made it possible for one to keep more of one's good-day acquaintances available. Nowadays, few people can just call and chat, just check their profiles and maintain a good relationship with friends without the right communication. Sure, buddy profiles can help you start a conversation, but it's good to be aware of how you handle these situations.

A waste of time

Many studies have shown that people get lost on social media during their working day or while studying at the library. This way, a person may accidentally be distracted from his or her activities for hours and thus lose time almost by mistake. It can be used in free time or during a travelling to consume time for studies.


Many times it seems that social media meets all the needs of sociality. An hour goes by to talk to both your Australian cousin, share your news with dozens, and chat with old schoolmates you haven't met for years. Go out to dinner with friends. In this way, social media can sometimes combine, but in the worst case, it can also isolate. So be aware that social media brings the world to you and does not take you away from it.

In conclusion, once social media becomes part of our daily lives, nothing will ever be the same again. Childhood and youth are no longer the same. However, the most important thing is to focus on developing positive aspects of social media, such as the opportunities it provides for interpersonal, personal, and mental health promotion.

As of today, there are over 3.2 billion social media users in the world who use social media as a primary mass medium to share their experience and feelings. With advanced technology, the authenticity of this platform is yet to be proven. Multiple factors including exaggerated news, bots, fake followers, and trolls add to the distance between reality and the social media world.

The greatest concern of social media is that the fake news is disguised, and it is done in such a way that the user is not able to identify the truth from all the information available. Unfortunately, there exist people who use unethical means on social media for their gain. They mould the truth or add false fragments to it which makes it more attractive. People mostly do not take time to unravel the truth. They believe what is fed to them through social media. Social media, which is thought to protect freedom of speech, provides means to people to exploit the needs and innocence of others. Another chief concern is that while an astonishing number of algorithms run to analyze the data on social media, data scientists are not yet sure if the data is meaningful. On the other hand, the public is unaware of the fact how their data is utilized. People use social media to escape from reality and live in their self-created imaginary world without everyday troubles. Social media has influenced people of all ages and indulged them in a fantasy world without any imperfections. However, the imaginative world is not only limited to the creator itself but shared with millions of people all around the world. People who post photoshopped images, fabricated news, and unreal experiences on social media tend to believe in what they post. It also affects the followers who believe in these and are immensely influenced. They tend to achieve unreal and hypothetical standards of lifestyle through any means whether legal or not. It has been lately observed that many people are opting for cosmetic surgeries and different procedures due to the influence of social media. Pictures depicting the lifestyle and appearance of celebrities and others are just reflections of a single moment of their life. There are multiple more factors and variables involved but people only pay attention to what is presented to them on social media (Dill, 2009). People distort reality and showcase a perfect and fantasized image of themselves. In this way, they start to ignore the real problems they are facing, and eventually, they are not able to keep up with the web of lies. Depression and anxiety take over the false confidence previously obtained through social media.

The even bigger issue emerges when the followers believe everything on social media. They begin to wish they could achieve what others have, not even considering what others have been through or the consequences. They are blindly aspired by the mesmerizing depiction of others’ lifestyle. They lose self-confidence and consider social media icons as their role models. Unfortunately, when they are not able to attain the unapproachable goals they have set, they feel demotivated and despise themselves.

It is an alarming situation as for many people, the reality and world of social media are intertwined. People are more interested in the images portrayed on social media. Many people serve others and volunteer only to show the world. Many times, without any real enthusiasm, efforts become meaningless. It is an alarming situation where people are more concerned with social media content rather than real-world problems.

However, there are also some advantages of social media use. Social media can be used as a platform to unite likeminded productive people to spread positivity. Together, they can help those in need irrespective of location, religion, and ethnicity. People can learn from others and improve their lifestyles (Sharma, 2018). The harms of social media cannot be ignored, however, through responsible use, the benefits can overcome the issues caused by it.

The "Yellow West movement" took the streets in France against the reform policies of French President Macron. The protest was initially directed only against higher taxes on gasoline and diesel. Several times there were clashes of the "Yellow West" with the police. Hundreds of people were injured. 89,000 police and other law enforcement officers were mobilized across the country. President Macron, as a result, had to come for negotiations with the demonstrators, announcing that he plans to defer the planned tax hikes on gasoline and diesel for one year.

During the protests of the "Yellow West", they came to riots and street battles time and again in recent weeks. The scenes were often the same: demonstrators in yellow vests throwing stones on police and emergency vehicles. The police using water cannons and tear gas. Cars and barricades are burning. Shops are being looted and damaged. The demonstrations spread throughout France. Hundreds of people were injured, including dozens of police officers. Due to the ongoing protests of the "Yellow West," many roads in France were closed and petrol stations paralyzed.

The way yellow vests have used digital tools like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels, to identify mobilization grounds, showed that digital technology had become an indispensable coordination tool. All the more so when it comes to a spontaneous movement that defies intermediate bodies and therefore has no prior organizational culture. The Internet helped this movement in the following aspects:

To quickly gather audiences around vital issues.

To organize flash mobilizations on a thematic basis;

To generate a type of collective action.

This way of organizing oneself online brings to mind the Arab Spring, which developed on Twitter and Facebook, among other things, these two social networks which in 2010-2011 enabled Tunisians and Egyptians to mobilize and share information.

The Internet also proved detrimental to such movements since the use of the internet by the yellow vests to promote their mobilization and to find each other, confirmed their rejection of the traditional media. This distrust leads many to trust more content circulating on social networks, and this simple fact encouraged manipulators of all kinds to spread fake information.

Diverting away from norms and violating them is deviance. Every day, we see people breaking away from the norms that have been set. These laws and norms are there to make life better for the citizens yet we willingly violate them. We forget that in our ignorance, it is not only our lives but also the lives of other innocent people that are ruined.

Traveling to college, I often witnessed people violating traffic rules and making the life of other innocent people miserable. The other day, a car driver ran a red light out of sheer negligence of the traffic laws and bumped into another car. Both drivers got out furiously and the argument began between the two of them. It was so difficult to see that the person doing wrong was arguing even more than the other. We tend to believe that it is always the mistake of others and that we are flawless. The argument caused traffic disruption and made the life of others difficult by delaying them for work. All it takes is one such person who thinks he is above the law to cause chaos for not just himself but the others around too. Unnecessary delays, stress, anxiety, and other health-related issues are the effects of such incidents. In the end, it took a traffic cop to handle the situation and remove the traffic jam.

It is our duty as citizens of our country to follow all the laws and norms laid out for us. If all of us follow the instructions that have been set to make our lives better, we would all lead a much happier and better life. We should be the ones setting examples for others as many times they learn from us. Bringing someone to light is our morale duty towards the community.

Women are considered as half of the total population of the world and they are the ones who perform two-thirds of the work in the world. But unfortunately, they are also the ones who earn merely the one-tenth part of the world's income. For centuries they are treated unfairly and unjustly when it comes to civil rights. Whether it be the voting right or the job opportunity, they were always discriminated on the basis of gender (Ahmed, 2015). Society used to stereotype women in the feminine role and associated her responsibilities to look after the house. Whenever women tried to make a place in the world on their own conditions, society rejected her presence and objectified her appearance. She was always portrayed as a source of entertainment instead of inspiration in the mainstream media due to which her image suffered severe damage. In the world of men dominant society, it became hard for women to earn enough money peacefully as the harassment in the workplace became another dilemma for her. The pressures she used to handle kept on increasing and it took very long for the people to accept her socially accept her independence. After numerous social movements, sacrifices, setting examples and the fight for civil rights, women somehow managed to complete this race of gender and equality but she failed to end sexism. Sexism still exists in the today's world in the form of workplace harassment, sexual harassment, limited job opportunities and pressure of marriage on her etc due to which women alone cannot are unable to fight. This paper will observe sexism and its prevalence in today's world and will also explore the ways it should be tackled. The aim of the essay is to help highlight sexism as a social issue and to analyze the adverse impact it has made on society.


Sexism is the most prevalent yet less talked about the social issue of society at the moment. Without even realizing, women have made sexism a part of their daily lives. It was severely common in the past but as times changed, many things came as a positive influence in the society. Sexism is however not a positive influence to make and made many hurdles on the lives of women in the workplace, in social life, family life etc. For many years’ women used to face sexual harassment in the workplace in the form of occupational sexism and didn't report the cases due to which the morale of guilty men boosted and they increased the practice. Even if some women dared to report the incident, they were either replaced or were tortured to stay quiet and accept the practice. Similarly, in Hollywood, actresses were paid far less than the men and were given side roles. Men were always showed to be a savior and the moral message used to be conveyed in a most sexist way possible. Females were always shown to be in a trouble, waiting for a man to rescue her. This mindset affected the youth's mentality and promoted the message in the society that men are in fact far superior to women.

Objectifying women is another form of sexism that limits the women's capabilities and potential and forces her to fit in the frame in which society wants her to be in. In the 1980s and 1990s, this level of sexism was on peak and more institutionalized than it is today. In this modern era of liberal perspectives, women are still criticized for not opting for a more stereotypic role in society. Society continuously undervalues woman's capabilities for the fields in which they are more capable than men.

Colored skin women face even more problems struggling with their careers than other women. There is a huge gap in earnings for the female members of the minority groups. For years, black women were treated almost invisible and were never given the chance to assist in higher management posts. They were always given the position of laborers due to race and gender discrimination. Glass ceiling effect makes it harder for the women to reach the topmost management posts and in the case of colored skin females, it becomes more like the concrete ceiling. Examples like acid attacks, rape, domestic violence, sexual abuse reflect the influence men have over the society and the control they exert over the other gender of the society i.e. women.

The social problem which society has in the form of sexism has made very adverse mental health effects on the health of women. Working women almost daily face kind of sexual harassment in the world which deteriorate her mental health and makes her quit. There are more cases of mental health issues found in women than in men (Willie, 2016). Due to mental pressure and the torture they face daily at the workplace and in family lives, they start showing the symptoms of different mental disorders most common of which are depression, anxiety, Post trauma Stress Syndrome etc (Willie, 2016). They quit jobs and are forced to be hired on lower paid jobs to ensure their security. In the last two years, there were some social movements organized for the support of women urging to end sexism e.g. #Metoo, #timesup etc. that threw light on the issue of social problem and informed the society about this decades-old issue.

In a society where women are not safe and secure and are always a center of social criticism, it becomes hard to attain a social balance. Sexism stops women from moving forward and provide a better future for their families. In the last few years, many women supported other women to come up and speak so that society receives awareness of the issues women face daily (Powell & Sang, 2015). Due to these efforts, many women revealed the issues of cyberstalking they face and the trauma they go through after experiencing sexual abuse. The real problem here is now that, even if the problems are quite for society to see, people still deny the truth. They still support the culprits and opt for the negative sanctions against the women who are victims. This is because of the fact that one gender is dominated over others in society and has the privilege to get away with all the wrongdoings. The structural sexism should be put to an end and for that, it is very important to change the mindset of the society. There is a need to change and divert the perception men has towards women and this can effectively be done through media. Media is a great source of social interaction and a medium of socialization which can be used positively to bring about improvement in the norms of existing society. Corrective measures in the form of corrective and responsible parenting will also help in removing gender discrimination and sexism from the coming generations.

Sexism is structural and will not be easily solved if steps are not taken in time to keep the social attitudes on the check. If a woman reports such an incident then after systematic investigation, the culprit should be given both formal and informal strong control measures for negativity in the form of law punishments, fines, life sentence etc.

Sexism in Relation to the Sociology Concepts

Sexism is often mixed with the various concepts of sociology like stratification, but there is a difference. Although sexism is also more or less based on the inequality issues faced in society its main focus is women only. Sexism is solely based on gender discrimination whereas stratification divides the people into groups in the society based on their social statuses. Sexism involves all the kinds that are hostile sexism, accidental sexism, ambivalent sexism, benevolent sexism etc. Most of the times sexism comes unintentionally in the form of jokes, comments, behavior that can be regarded as accidental sexism. In this kind, men unintentionally make fun of women without realizing the consequences. This type of sexism is treated like a source of fun and entertainment that does not seem to receive a reaction from women by whatever it does. Looking at the theoretical framework sexism has, ambivalent sexism can be used as a theoretical ground to help us understand the dimensions in which sexism works in sociology.

Ambivalent sexism comprises of mainly two sub-components which are hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. Hostile sexism deals with all the negative judgments and stereotyping woman's role in society. It promotes the idea that women are not competent and are inferior to men in every aspect (Renzetti et al.,2018). This type of sexism clearly rejects the sociology concept of gender equality and spreads negativity in the environment by emphasizing on the concepts of exclusion. The ambivalent framework has another component as well which is called benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism concerns and views the women from apparently a more positive way from the eyes of the evaluator i.e. women needs protection and men are there to protect her. This component says that this set is very weak and needs to be protected. The ambivalent framework is also reviewed by many sociologists and they have also agreed for the existence of these two major components in the society. Looking at the concept of ethnicity under sexism, it will not be wrong to say that sexism along with ethnicity directly affects the role and responsibilities of the women in the society and disturbs the social balance of the society.

Sociological Theories in Relation to Sexism

Sociology has many theories that are implemented in how society really works. These sociological theories include functionalism theory, feminist theory, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism theory and many more. Evaluating sexism on the basis of all these theories, it is seen that sexism relates the most with the conflict theory and have contradictions with the functionalist theory. According to functionalism theory, both the genders exist in the society to maximize the social efficiency from the work assigned to them. They are here to ensure social stability and efficiency. But, sexism follows another spectrum as it does not all the functionalism theory to function properly in society. Sexism negatively affects society and decrease the social efficiency which has to be achieved by both the genders. Society is a complex kind of system which can only be operated if all the parts (genders) work together to promote stability and solidarity in society. Sexism is the total opposite of that approach and this is why is difficult to be related to functionalist theory.

Conflict theory is the one with which sexism works on the same level as this theory suggests men in a more dominant role and women as subordinate to men so that the power and privilege in the society can be maintained. The theory also emphasizes the gender inequality that is needed to run society for the maintenance of power and privilege (Glynn, 2017). Conflict theory says that men are privileged in all the cases and women have to accept the role or subordinates. Sexism also has an almost similar message to give in society.


Society has always used to stereotype women in the feminine role and associated her responsibilities under the supervision of men. Women have evolved and seek independence but unfortunately, the society we are living in is still the same. In a society where women are not safe and secure and are always a center of social criticism, it becomes hard to attain a social balance. Sexism stops women from moving forward and provide a better future for their families. The structural and institutional sexism should be put to an end and for that, it is very important to change the mindset of the whole society. There is a need to change and divert the perception men has towards women and this can only be done through media, corrective parenting, social awareness etc.

Social problems arise when a society is confronted with factors that upset the way society has been organized. The discrimination of African Americans based on racial attributes has been a social issue since the early settlement of the American inhabitants. However, through continuous efforts made by theorists and reformers, some positive changes have been observed as well. The school system of New York is the largest in the country, and the racial segregation prevalent in these schools is not a social issue to be overlooked at all. It affects a huge population by hurting their feelings, suppressing their ambitions, and causing an overall loss of productivity of the country.

The Hispanic and black children, who make up the majority of New York’s students, have to be confined to the average schools. The Hispanic and black children constitute 65 per cent of all the elementary level students. They can avail only 18 per cent of all the offers. On the high school level, the Hispanic and black students are 66 per cent of the total number of students. However, those who are successful in getting admissions to the high-performing schools are only 16 per cent of all students. The need for understanding the aforesaid issue given the conflict perspective of sociological research is evident. The Marxist theory advocates equal opportunities for the economic success of all people. It identifies the disappointing consequences of social inequity, which can lead to victims of discrimination. The black and Hispanic students should have equal chances of being educated in the top schools of the state. The frustration caused by racial prejudice may result in rebellious attitudes, engagement in crimes, and dissatisfaction in careers. There are many other ways Facebook and other social media platforms let their users experience loneliness. Most of the people follow other people's lives rather than for interacting with them, they experience a sense of loneliness because it feels like everyone else is having a great time and living their lives without them. overusing social media can have many negative consequences as social media can have a skewed view on the true lives that people are living in relation to how one’s life is going on. Most people on social media are showing off their best times, their best pictures, their best events and so on. On the other hand, if one uses it to talk to people, keep in touch with friends from around the world and even make online friends (through fandoms, etc.), it can be a good way of actually dispelling loneliness. However, it can never replace the joy and experience of interacting with someone in real life. That said, if one spends all of their time online and never have contact with those around them, they may still feel lonely due to the lack of physical presence.

There are two problems with social media interactions. It is making some of the users more asocial. As in, reducing the occurrence of physical social contacts and thus reducing the need for, and thereby causing a lack of social skills for face to face contacts. People on social media are rude and all too often, feel free to leave snarky and hateful comments on posts and topics because they feel safe, being anonymous. In addition, through continuous interaction with people on social media, people unlearn traditional, ‘multi-layered’ social skills. Social media is about texting, sending icons, sharing edited pictures or clicking ‘like’ buttons. There are no non-verbal cues to learn, no verbal skills to train. Users no more understand that social media is not a free socialization space, it’s a business. They profit with users being online all the time. They use AI algorithms to track users’ behavior and feed their inbox with stuff you already like. This works well for ad agencies, but not for people, who end up isolated in their own cage of personal interests and bigotry. This is why so many teens are insecure about their looks or ‘boring’ lives, as they follow profiles that promote their own obsessions, reinforcing how far they are from what’s ‘cool’, ‘hot’ or ‘fun’ in their micro-world. Kids with low self-esteem, join groups of the same people, sharing the same negative views, never getting a different perspective. That’s how normal people become addicts, rapists, and school shooters. Social media lacks a ‘negative feedback’ loop that challenges people’s beliefs and helps them get a balance.

Social media is useful but one must not let them get addicted addicted to it. Social media websites were initially made to connect people with each other living far away. Owing to the applications like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat are a new addiction. People living a social media life are more involved in these sites rather than people sitting next to them. Social networking sites are used at a large scale where the users feel there is no point in meeting each other, even when they have to because they think they are already in touch. But the pleasures and joy of meeting someone in person than on social networking sites are completely elapsed. These sites were made so that people from faraway places can contact each other and also get to know new people. However, now the users have completely changed the idea they were made for and use them in a different way. Some of the reasons social media is different from socializing in real life are that one can take the time to craft a near-perfect catchy description of themselves that reels people in and amazes them. In normal socialization, one has to rely on their mind-mouth combination to work for themselves. In electronic socialization, people have time for repartees and comebacks. In conventional socialization, unless one has a quick mind, they don't have much time to impress people with comebacks. Through electronic socialization, one can show the best parts of themselves to the world and leave out the bad ones. Another major reason that makes social media destructive is, not using these sites to do something meaningful. Social media users often get under pressure to perform well in the virtual world, and that’s when they start creating meaningless negativity around them. When relations get intertwined with social media, they fall into space where the real social circle is pushed aside. Users end up doing things without considering the repercussions.

The use of social media also depends on users. Antisocial behavior implies those behaviors that cause harm to people and property. Asocial behaviors are those behaviors that indicate a lack of interest in socializing, which is what the question is referencing. It is often said that these behaviors often stem from the excessive use of social media. The rewards that come along with conventional face-to-face socializing like getting to know new people, impressing them can also be obtained by socializing with someone online.

To sum up, social media, email, texting, and the likes are a one-dimensional world that lack the necessary communication elements, for instance, gestures, body language, facial expressions, inflection, etc. It can never replace real time communication and socialization. How does one then interpret this flat world? Whatever way they choose to hear it. How many relationships came to an end due to misunderstood humor? Exploring the answers to these questions will help one better understand the ways social media makes one asocial or anti-social.

If a person feels strongly about a certain cause and works towards attaining a change regarding that cause, that person can be known as an Activist. Now, if the cause is related to any social issue and intentional actions are done to bring about social change then it is called social activism. For the purpose of this paper a social activist group by the name of Foundation for Education and Accountability has been chosen for research.

Foundation for Education and Accountability

This social activist organization is research based not for profit think tank. It is based in New York and works towards improving education in the state. FERA’s research is generally focused on the different public policy issues and how they affect education. They then forward this research to public officials and all the other stakeholders involved. Its research includes areas such as choice, accountability and innovation. New York’s education system has been greatly influenced by the work of this reputable institution since its inception in 1992. The Vice President of FERA is Brian Backstrom, while President of FERA is Thomas Carroll and Director of Research and Communications is Jason Brooks ("Foundation for Education Reform and Accountability").

Social Problem Combatted by FERA

FERA core focus is on betterment of education in New York. This is done by advocating for accountability, promoting innovative education and embracing school choice in education. All these three are very important in determining the future and the quality of education provided to students. FERA advocates for accountability in awarding of tenure to teachers, minimizing of wasteful and ineffective spending. FERA works towards acceptance of new innovative methods for education and availability of high quality education to all the families in New York as it’s their right as a citizen. There should be no bias towards anyone on the basis of their race, creed or economic situation on the context of education.

Solution to the Problems

FERA works hard at solving the issues affecting education through its three pronged approach of advocating for accountability, promoting innovative education and embracing social choice. FERA monitors compliance of No Child Left Behind Laws, while also advocating for greater mayoral control over public schools and extensive search on student performance before extending tenure of public school teachers. FERA has provided schools research regarding alternative teaching methods and certification, school over the whole year, teaching based on subjects. FERA has worked hard and is a staunch supporter of expanding educational choices for children of New York. FERA’s research on the different schooling system in New York has shown that nonunion charter schools are better performance versus their union dominated counterparts.

FERA has a considerable amount of backing behind it. Its resources include a vast network of friendly organizations that it works with in unison to complete its objectives. Their friends include New York Education Reform Research and Advocacy, National Education Reform Research and Advocacy, Education news, New York K-12 Scholarship Organizations. It has an impressive internship program that offers it applicants a growing and nurturing environment and asks of its applicants to be able to handle the fast pace working environment and be able to multi task. As it’s a not for profit and independent organization, it is financially supported by generous donors who make a tax-deductible donation to FERA.

FERA is not a very large organization, as it does not have any divisions in any other states of USA or has no international offices. It is majorly a regional entity with its main focus on New York and betterment of its education. Its President is Brian Backstrom and Vice president is Jason Brooks, while it has 6 members in its board of trustees with names such as Bruce Bent, Richard Gilder, Bruce Kovner, Virginia James, Omar Wasow and Robert Wilson.

It remained under the rule of French colonials for years. There was a wave of cultural invasions in the country. Slavery was encouraged at an early age.

In Haiti, people lack educational institutions to get an education, but Haiti's education has been privatized, which is a barrier to access education to the people of Haiti. They do not have food, they live in food scarce areas, it was once popular that, people of Haiti used to eat mud cookies because prices were very high and people could not afford the prices. There were markets where food products were available but they were only affordable for the elites who had enough sources and money. International aid programs like the World food program provided food for the children studying in the schools, as it was the only food that children used to eat in one day with the same menu.

In Haiti, people fought racial wars and defeated the enemies but still, they are unable to create opportunities for their development. They think government interventions are important to develop the nation. On the other side, the government introduced the constitution and made changes in the infrastructure. People have only one source which can be exported, the export of mango but this is not enough for the economy of Haiti. The unemployment rate is 75 percent, and people lack opportunities to earn and survive. People lack advanced technology for their agriculture and their daily usage, as they do not have electricity they could use for machinery.

People living in the countryside find earning opportunities by burning wood to produce charcoal and sell it in the market. Deforestation is becoming a problem for people and a source of earning. They also sell other products in the market too like beans, vegetables, and other food products but they have to wait for rain because they lack irrigation systems for agriculture. People in Haiti also suffer because of diseases and lack of health facilities. Health services are available in cities only. On the other side, telecommunication is on the boom because of cheap prices which can help create linkages with the rest of the world and create opportunities for their better life.

Patients die while reaching to hospitals in the cities. For doctors, AIDS is the main problem and it needs to be treated. The Cuban doctors are being sent to Haiti to make better healthcare facilities. International security agencies are there. Locals perceive them as bad because they say that they rape their children. So, they make the government responsible to create opportunities within the state so that social evils would be minimized and people would be able to earn and develop. People define Clorox as extreme hunger, unemployment and lack of facilities. People need to educate their children so that they would be able to earn and live a better life. And people need to change their mindset towards modern ways from cultural beliefs which risk their lives.

The first thing that is needed to be understood here is that what is meant by decommodification and what are its broader implications when one talks about the broader political trends. Now, decommodification is the process in which the individual or family is in the position that it is able to uphold a socially acceptable standard of living specially if one talks about the eventual market participation. Commodification is the process in which the transformation of the goods and services is being done and they are being made the part of the whole market process where the course of supply and demand is going to decide their future, the same thing cannot be said about the other markets where the same precedence is not being showed. Again, this is something that goes against the current practices that are carried out in the more liberal countries where market demand and supply is allowed to have its course, but the fact remains that how in the long run such a question is needed to be asked at the given point of time. Now, if one talks about the example of how decommodification is supposed to work and what is the broader policy application of the whole issue, the example of the socialist countries has to be seen. The Scandinavian countries are the one that are closes in this regard when one talks about decommodification as they are the ones that are working as per the scale that is created in terms of the way research is needed to be put into place (Kumlin and Rothstein, 2017). The example of Sweden comes to mind where the level of pension, the entitlements that an individual is supposed to have when they are reaching a certain age as well as the unemployment insurance that they are getting are some of the major examples in this regard (Kumlin and Rothstein, 2017). Not only that, the social welfare programs that are being carried out in Sweden are shaped in the manner that they serve as a de facto agreement among the way things are supposed to be mandated towards the government at the particular point of time (Kumlin and Rothstein, 2017). What these programs are doing is that they are making sure that some sort of de facto guarantee towards the wages of the citizens is supposed to be provided. That also means that how the averages are supposed to be taken and the creation of the regulations are supposed to be done at the particular point of time (Kumlin and Rothstein, 2017). The means based test is going to be an important determinant in this regard specifically if one talks about the level of education and the past history is supposed to be shaped up at the given point of time. So all these things are quite important when one looks at the way decommodification is supposed to work.

During the course of the analysis that is being presented by the Giles and Page, the argument that is presented by them is that how at times there is little or no response towards the way broader interest of the people are supposed to work and how the historical data is supposed to be looked at (Rothstein and Stolle, 2016). When one talks about the general Americans, the common perception is that how their representation is being there in terms of how the interest groups are supposed to work in the politics, but in the hindsight, due to the way supply side policies are shaped up at the given point of time, they do not have enough relevance when it comes to the way decision making is supposed to be carried out. As a matter of fact, in some ways, it can be said that the decisions that are taken by the economic elite are the ones that are going to have much more impact with regards to the way policies are going to be taking shape at the particular point of time (Rothstein and Stolle, 2016). The idea that is presented by them is that how the flow of income at movement in terms of the supply side of the United States governments and legislation is shaped in the manner that it is only the economic elite that is getting the representation at the moment and some of the other interest groups are not getting enough representation.

Now, if one looks at the supply and demand side forces that are at work in this regard, it can be seen that how the broader policy making issues are quite important when such a consideration has to be made. Specially if one talks about the way American public is thinking and working at the given point of time. When it comes to the political decision making, most of the times, the lobbying and participation is done by the stakeholders that are coming from the well and elite backgrounds, and during the course of the electrical process, they have to rely on the support from all the possible stakeholders. What it means is that when they are in the position to assume any sort of power, The natural impulse by them is about making sure that how they are going to be giving back to the same set of people that have supported them during the course of their electoral campaign. The other important aspect in the whole discussion is that what are the broader policy implications, and as they are not owing anything to the general populace, they do not feel any obligation towards them.

           It is interesting to explain why I am interested to graduate from Walden as compare to any other academic institute. I believe Walden University can be a good match for my professional goals because it offers different and valuable dynamics of the social work field according to the social scene.
