Social Issue
Sociologists’s study of human performance includes many social contexts like common communication organization and institutions. There are so many comprehensive spectra of social settings which are being considered, and unemployment is one such issue which is studied extensively by sociologists. There is a battle of age, sex, and racial status that is a common factor among those who are employed and working and those who are unemployed and in search of jobs. From a sociologist's outlook, this particular problem can be explained both from the functionalist and conflict theory perspective. There are various reasons for unemployment, and some of the common and most important causes are political and economic instability and poor governance by an incompetent leader also plays an important role in unemployment.
There are many questions a sociologist can ask about unemployment. In a functionalist society as everyone has a purpose so a sociologist may ask the question that if the population of the world is so high then how is it possible for an individual to serve only one role? Functionalists believe that unemployment has a basic purpose in a given society, and also it plays its vital part. But it is also noteworthy that for all those unemployed people it is quite difficult to see what good is there to be unemployed both for the individual and society. There is another theory that is the conflict theory which is also used to explain unemployment. In this theory to understand the roots of unemployment, the sociologist can ask the question of why the people who are in power can rule other people's life easier? Because according to this theory unemployment is associated with feelings of power and authority over the lives of others and those people who are around. Unemployment leads towards loss of power and complete dependence on others to meet the sociological needs.
