Introduction

Since the last ten years, the United States of America has been fighting an insurgency to stabilize Afghanistan. It has spent over $336 billion for the sake of Afghanistan’s security, but Afghan leaders has become openly hostile towards the U.S. attempt to reduce the corruption in Afghanistan. Corruption has a social, legal, and moral standpoint, which form the basis of consternations and frustrations amongst the individual of the societies. The corrupt acts are associated with a person’s gain at the cost of public, which not only leave adverse impact on the society but also at the economy of the country. Through the corruption, the initial focus of the individual is financial benefits gained through bribery. However corruption is not just limited to the financial advantages of the monetary gains, instead it includes political and social power gain in the respective society. Now, this study aims to discuss the complexities of corruption that includes cultural, moral, and legal perspective, along with its impact on the Afghan Economy.

Purpose of Study

The study purpose is to the impact of corruption on economic development of the Afghanistan. To have better understanding of the impact of corruption, the study will analyze the effects of Bribery and Nepotism on the economic development of Afghanistan.

Research Questions

How the Corruption does affects the Economic Development in Afghanistan?

Sub Questions:

How do the leaders of Afghanistan perceive corruption?

How the Bribery and Nepotism affecting Afghanistan’s Economic Development?

What is U.S. perception of Afghanistan’s Corruption and Economic development?

Literature Review

A lot of authors have discussed the impact of corruption on the economic development of different countries, however current study will analyze how the corruption has affected the economic development of Afghanistan. Gyimah-Brempong (2002) presented the corruption from different social, legal, and moral standpoint, which form the basis of consternations and frustrations amongst the individual of the societies CITATION Gyi02 \l 1033 (Gyimah-Brempong, 2002). Previously Kaufman (1997) had also discussed the adverse impact of corruption on the society. The study highlighted that the corrupt acts are associated with a person’s gain at the cost of public, which not only leave adverse impact on the society but also at the economy of the country CITATION Kau97 \l 1033 \m Mau06 (Kaufman, 1997; Mauro, 2006). Saastamoinen (2006) also highlighted that corruption leaves adverse impact on the economic development of the country and increases when the initial focus of the individual is financial, social, and legal benefits gained through bribery CITATION Saa06 \l 1033 (Saastamoinen, 2006).

Methodology

The study will follow qualitative methodology, through which the researcher will analyze already published literature to evaluate how corruption leaves impact on the economic development of the Afghanistan. The researcher will entirely rely on the secondary sources, where a suitable sample size will be used to evaluate the impact of nepotism and bribery on economic development of Afghanistan. Furthermore, the meta-analysis techniques will be used to derive an authentic conclusion of the study.

Expected Outcome

The study purpose is to the impact of corruption on economic development of the Afghanistan. To have better understanding of the impact of corruption, the study will analyze the effects of Bribery and Nepotism on the economic development of Afghanistan. Thus, the findings will show a negative impact of the corruption on the political, social, and economic development of the Afghanistan.
