Immigrant and Racial Minority Perceptions of the Canadian Criminal Justice System
According to the research done, the researcher expected to find that immigrants and racial minorities tend to be less favored by the Canadian criminal system. Judging from the beginning if the article, there is much emphasis on non-Canadians having a negative attitude towards the criminal system of the Canadian criminal justice system. This is not faced in Canada alone but also in other white-dominated nations like the United States. There are various factors which makes this possible, which first includes the beliefs people have, that makes it even harder to admit that what is being done to them is in accordance with the law.
The theory of race has been used to explain this whole issue. For instance, you will find most of the immigrants have racial differences as compared to the Canadians. But this doesn’t mean that is what gives the police an easy time to accuse other people falsely just because of race. You find that the racial issues, where the blacks believe that the whites are superior and oppressive make them have a negative attitude towards them. These attitudes, on the other hand, increases the chances of committing crimes, thereby resulting in more immigrants and non-Canadians being found always on the wrong side of the law.
The research concludes that there is no form of inequality being practiced in countries such as America, Canada among others. What happens is simply the kind of relationship created between the criminal system and the citizens. Negative attitude increases the chances of breaking laws, one of the things that usually happens among the blacks. In support of this conclusion the researcher comes up with the graph on attitudes of different races towards the criminal system, and the blacks actually were the leading in having a bad perception towards it.
