The October sky story is a story of three young men who had the passion to design a rocket and launch it to space. This was after the Soviet Union launched one in October 1957. According to my opinion, these young men made use of two improvement approach models. The first improvement approach model they used was the urge to boosting readiness and change competencies that were key to reducing variations (David et al 2009). This model is used in the manner in which the three young men are determined. They did several field tastes of the rockets they made and after each failure to launch a good and working rocket they made a better and improved rocket for the other test till they managed to build a good and working rocket. The second approach they used was the data-driven approach. This approach is seen in action when Homen decided to read a book on rocket science that helped him learn how to calculate the trajectory of the rocket. This reading helped them establish the cause of the fire on their other rocket (Lee Nedler 1998).
The founders story is based on Ray Kroc a determined entrepreneur who gets attracted to the McDonald brothers business and eventually takes ownership of it fully. Based on my opinion, ray Kroc used two kinds of improving approach. First, he used the data-driven approach. Ray used to sale the milkshake mixers and the places that he used to sell his milk to had long ques of people who were poorly served. He then realized a place in California that has fast foods that were quality disposable and had a good atmosphere for the families to relax there. He is then interested in this place because of the name and the way it is liked (Lee Nedler 1998). Secondly, ray Kroc uses the financial partnerships to reduce denials and write-offs. This is seen when the McDonald brothers allow him to venture into their business, he invites financial investors who help him raise the money for the section that he was managing. Even after taking over the business from the brothers he also invites investors to help in some financial assistance.
The monkey ball is a story of an Oakland manager who wanted to build a low baseball team to become a winning team (David et al 2009). The manager was so determined that he even used a Yale economics graduate to help him determine the probability of each player that he wanted to buy and the players importance. Based on my opinion the manager used the data-driven approach to design a good and proper team that could be a winning team. This was done by the use of Mr. Peter an economics graduate from the University of Yale. Mr. Peter designed a complex matrix equation and a computer program that helped determine the importance of each player they needed to buy and the contributions that the player could provide to the team. He also used the teams management to analyze each players strengths and determine those they needed to buy and sell.
