Acronym HIPPA refers to Health Insurance Portability Act that was passed in 1996 by the Congress. This act was formed to protect data privacy and provide security provisions for safeguarding the medical information of patients. This law has turned into acute prominence due to recent data breaches due to cyber and ransomware attacks on the companies of health insurance and providers.
It provides health insurance coverage to American workers and their families in situations like job loss. It has helped to reduce the abuse and fraud regarding health care. HIPPA dictates all the industry-wide standards of healthcare information on processes like healthcare billing.

HIPPA ensures that only authenticated individuals, different level of access to the patient information. But at the same time complexity of management of health information. It becomes difficult for management professionals to obtain the information, which makes them interpret rules for themselves, which often leads to misinterpretations and inconsistent applications that often becomes a cause of delayed treatment.
