Evidence-based Practice
Q1.
By Dissemination of evidence in the field of nursing, we mean spreading the knowledge that is based on evidence, findings, and researches done by nurses to other health care practitioners or to the local public. In the nursing profession, this is vital because when nurses stay aware of the latest evidence in their field, they can disperse that particular information to others in order to make sure that the finest quality and effective care is being provided to all patients.
Dissemination of evidence in nursing is considered an essential part because of the reasons that are mentioned below.
For enhancing the horizon of knowledge regarding the nursing field
In order to verify that the nursing field should remain up-to-date and advanced with the most efficacious evidence and recent practices
To realize that all the decisions regarding nursing are made on the basis of evidence that enhances quality care and economic efficiency
Increasing motivation for nurses to use evidence-based strategies while their interaction with patients.
To improve the motivation of patients so that they can utilize evidence-based interventions that are going to help their own medical care.
Q2.
Healthcare is one of the most important areas of policymaking. One of the primary social issues discussed during election campaigns is health policy. Both politicians and policymakers rely on the information available to them for their policy formulation. Only informed legislators can formulate sensible policies.
In 1997, an inquiry commission was constituted by the Blair Government to identify the factors behind health inequalities. Sir Donald Acheson who headed the commission published the report in 1998. It remained a major source for the government to consider the causes of health inequalities and ways to tackle them. The inquiry report recommendations were in line with the vision of the government and shaped the health care policies of the Blair Government in seeking health equity. Therefore, evidence plays a vital role in shaping health policies. It is to be noted that some governments may not pay heed to the evidence if it is not compatible with their vision or vested interests.
