Community Health Nursing

Community health nursing refers to the practice of offering nursing services to people within a given community. To achieve this, there are different aspects within the community that must be well taken care of. Different communities have different cultural practices and it is therefore important that nurses should learn them before they settle to provide such services in the community. It is also important that the nurses should learn about the major problems that people have in a particular community if they wish to be of help in the community. The purpose of this paper is to look at the role of CHN nurse in improving nutrition with a community setting of 1000 people.

Community setting

To improve the level of nutrition within this community, the nurse is tasked with the duty of looking for the best foods and supplements for the people. The knowledge of the nurse will be important in determining the best foods that can provide people within the community with the nutrients they need in the body. Based on the experience of the nurse, it will be easy to come up with a plan to be used in administering the nutrients to ensure that the community health level goes up.

The role assigned in this setting is mainly to provide information and offer the help that is needed to improve the nutritional levels of the people within the community. One of the benefits is that it will enlighten the community about the foods that they need to be taking. They will also have access to information of the manner in which they should be taking the foods so that they are able to balance the nutrients within the body. Another benefit is that in the long run they will reduce the occurrence of certain diseases that are caused by lack of certain nutrients in the body.

Health promotion nursing intervention

For the nurse to find an easy task in offering the services, it is important to collaborate with other organizations that also offer such services. One of the methods that will be used is visual presentations of the diseases that can result from poor nutrition. This is likely to bring to the attention of the community that indeed they need a program that can enable them to get away from such diseases. Mappings will also be used to show the extent to which poor nutrition has affected the community.

The American Nurses Association will work in collaboration with this project to be able to eradicate the problem of malnutrition in this community. The organization is currently running a program to find out the best foods that can provide nutrients to people with low income. It is common knowledge that the foods that have the best nutrients are quite expensive and not every person can afford them. Information from such an organization will be quite important to improve the performance of this program.

Professional nursing organization

The American Nurses Association is one of the organizations that have assisted nurses in many ways. The organization is responsible for safeguarding the welfare of the nurses in the country. It is also responsible for carrying out research on the best ways that nurses can use to improve the services they offer to their clients. The major intention of the organization is to ensure that patients get the best nursing services while the nurses use the best methods as they discharge such services (ANA, 2015).

The professional issue that the organization is currently dealing with is the number of nurses in the industry. The number of nurses does not match the number of patients in the country. It is upon the organization to come up with ways of having more nurses in the country.

Community Health Nursing is a practice that is aimed at improving the lives of people within communities. The nurse will make use of visual presentations and mappings to convince the people. It will also be important to work with ANA with a view of improving the outcome of the program.
