Introduction

The marine life and ocean are threatened by increasing pollution threatening the larger ocean ecosystems. The increasing pollution is attributed to global phenomenon which is rapidly changing the ecosystems. It is for that reason that action needs to be prompted to save the marine and the inhabitants. In taking the little action to alleviate the problem and also taking the opportunity and changing the waste directed to the oceans as a resource material. This led to the establishment of a sustainability business model to create awareness and prompt the society to become conscious about saving and protecting the environment.

Contribution of Lifestyle to Ocean Pollution

Households and neighborhoods have the largest contribution to in polluting ocean on the premise of downstream pollutants which find its way to the water sources and eventually to the ocean. As a personal initiative to do my little thing, I would engage the residential population to find better ways in handling their wastes especially on the basis of pick-up collection points and foster education on the rise of e-waste and prevalence of plastic pollutant that find its way to the ocean choking the marine life. For instance, the e-waste contains hazardous material which is soluble when poorly mishandled and disposed in water ways and also left on the landfills. Hazardous material that is in the landfill and fails to decompose and eventually producing leachaate gas which is leached and contaminates the ground waters.

To understand the concept of Social Responsibility facilitated by Green Initiative the focus is to involve all parties in ocean protection, and targeting the manufacturing industry especially in close proximity to the water sources and ocean that are huge culprits of directing waste water to the environment disrupting the ecosystems. The treatment of the water is a critical process to avoid changing the constituents and internal environment of the oceans which can disrupt the marine life and aquatic organism’s survival (Gattuso et al, 2018). As a part of the project initiatives includes the development of plants to increase mangrove forest coverage to help build convenient and suitable environment for the fish bleeding to increase their population.

In the bid to allocate the available resource evenly among the numerous participants’ of the proposed Green Initiative Program is to offer the target population with information and insights to change the attitude of the population towards the conservation of the oceans. The project will be initiated from the institution level and volunteers program, encouraged to ensure that information reaches and achieves the desired results towards ocean protection (Haward, 2018).

Considering that ocean pollution has been ongoing for long, it is important to note that mass pollution would be a difficult thing to do. Drawing from that premise, our objective is preventing this from happening again and educating the society to adopt sustainability approaches in dealing with waste from the upstream and reducing landfill and groundwater contamination. Prevention is the best opportunity to save our ocean and the marine life.

Conclusion

To conclude, it is important to acknowledge that ocean pollution is a menace and can be attributed to global phenomenon which is rapidly changing the ecosystems. It is for that reason that action needs to be prompted to save the marine and the inhabitants. In taking the little action to alleviate the problem and also taking the opportunity and changing the waste directed to the oceans as a resource material. This led to the establishment of a sustainability business model to create awareness and prompt the society to become conscious about saving and protecting the environment. on the same note, it is important to engage the farmers and gardeners to embrace organic farming, and focusing on turning bio-waste to organic manure to reduce the chemical elements from inorganic fertilizers which ends up polluting our waters. It will also simultaneously fostering conservation agricultural production and clean soils to prompt safety ocean and marine conservation right from the upstream.
