Should cigarette sale be illegal in Texas

Introduction

Texas is rated at 28 numbers in the US regarding cigarette tax i.e. $1.41 per pack and the minimum age for the sale of tobacco is about eighteen years of age. It provokes a stance to undergo an analysis of the fact either cigarette sale should be legal in Texas or not. It is evident that smoking is directly related to the sales of cigarette and smoking is an addiction. It has been asserted that the rate of smoking has been increased in Texas over time. In order to synchronize with other paradigms that are associated with the after-effects of smoking and the rate of people attracted towards smoking, major attention has been given to cigarette sale. Although the Texas government has banned the sale of cigarette in order to mitigate the tobacco use, side by side attention is brought to the consequences of unavailability. In a nutshell, cigarette sale is a coin with two sides; one of the sides faces the increasing consequences and other side highlights necessities.

Discussion

Taking into account the increased attention towards smoking, it has been brought into insight that efforts should be taken to mitigate the sales of cigarette because about 10.3% of the total population is a victim to addiction of smoking. About 7% of the population is using cigars. It would not be wrong to say that the increased rate of cigarette purchased has paved the way for an unhealthy society. (Combs, et al. , pp. 76-86, 2019)

Immorality is another aspect associated with cigarette sale, taking into account that youth is involved in tobacco sale, both in the form of cigarettes and e-cigarettes. It has increased the ratio of juvenile crimes adhering to the fact that youth is considering it as a means of income, accompanied by consumption as well. Much of the addicted population is using illegal ways to fulfill their desires and it has increased the rate of social and street crimes. Many of the people consider it as a healthy business because as soon as government banned the sales of tobacco, criminals have started smuggling tobacco and cigarettes in order to fulfill their economic needs and it has paved the way for earning a heavy amount. (Vary, 2019)

Another undeniable stance is life threats that are associated with cigarette sales. As mere purpose behind cigarette sales is both smoking and smuggling that ultimate leads to smoking are a great factor in causing life-threatening disease such as cancer. The section of the population that considered smoking as a tool of enjoyment and emotional stability has been found at a verge of many devastating diseases at quite an early age. (Vary, 2019)

Taking into account the negative aspects that are associated with smoking, it is hard to overlook the other side where smoking is prescribed by many therapists and doctors. It is evident that strict ban cannot facilitate the availability of cigarettes. However, it is also important to note that prescribed things are always available at another edge of the market much like other medicines.

It is also said that cigarette sales should not be banned because many people are earning a living by selling cigarettes and banning cigarettes can act as an attack on the stance of professionalism. However, it is important to note that selling cigarettes is doing more harm than good, so it is necessary to highlight the fact that cigarette sale should be banned. (Vary, 2019)

Conclusion

An overall narration asserts that banning cigarette sale is not a solution, because there are both positive and negative connotations associated with it. It is necessary to comply with a neutral approach. Efforts should be made to keep a check and balance so that a balanced framework can be accomplished, taking into account the necessities of people as well.
