Why students should go to college for little to no cost
Education is one of the fundamental requirements of a person. Progressive countries consider education and investing in their students as an asset for the future. Education standards in the developed countries are very high but they are not accessible for every student as the fee structure in their universities is too heavy to handle for a student from the ordinary or mild background. Most of the students who enrol in these institutes have to consider the option of taking a loan. Students loan are very common but the impact it has on the student body is very horrible. Taking the example of the United States alone, each college graduate owes a debt of approximately $30,000. Comparing this scenario with the situation of the industry, where for every job two applicants are there. If a student gets a job, it would take him years to compensate for the debt of the loan he had taken for the graduation. Another important that should be taken into consideration is that student loans are comparatively very low and they are hardly sufficient for basic survival, let alone tuition fees. There is an option that students should not risk their lives for the education, which may or may not compensate for the price they paid and must look for institutions which offer free or low fee. “developed Western nations allow students to go to college for little to no cost of their own, seeing the education of a citizen as an investment in the country’s well-being.” ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"IJURZjIX","properties":{"formattedCitation":"{\\rtf ({\\i{}Nine Reasons Our Foreign Policy Makes Us Look Like Complete Hypocrites | HuffPost})}","plainCitation":"(Nine Reasons Our Foreign Policy Makes Us Look Like Complete Hypocrites | HuffPost)"},"citationItems":[{"id":85,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/87ZAHpff/items/5S68RRPF"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/87ZAHpff/items/5S68RRPF"],"itemData":{"id":85,"type":"webpage","title":"Nine Reasons Our Foreign Policy Makes Us Look Like Complete Hypocrites | HuffPost","URL":"https://www.huffpost.com/entry/nine-reasons-our-foreign-policy_b_5526541","accessed":{"date-parts":[["2019",11,7]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"} (Nine Reasons Our Foreign Policy Makes Us Look Like Complete Hypocrites | HuffPost)
The people who are against the free public higher education are on the view that it would be a hassle for the campuses, in a way that would result in less money and more students. To manage that, a lot of faculty members will be fired. Many students do not go to college because of financial restraints and some of them do not want to put a burden on their families. Student loan doesn’t meet the requirements because even after the completion of degree and doing jobs for years, the students still cannot pay their debts. The idea of promoting free education and advocating this cause does not only requires free education but quality education as well. Collective efforts are required to spread the cause by giving awareness to student bodies of different colleges. As an example “ a unified group of students, faculty and staff, brought together by PHENOM (the Public Higher Education Network of Massachusetts), won a $100 million boost in state funding, allowing campuses to hire more faculty and staff while freezing tuition and fees ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"tEnv6L1v","properties":{"formattedCitation":"{\\rtf (\\uc0\\u8220{}It\\uc0\\u8217{}s Time to Push for Free College\\uc0\\u8221{})}","plainCitation":"(“It’s Time to Push for Free College”)"},"citationItems":[{"id":155,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/5OlhLovK/items/BGWVJGLC"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/5OlhLovK/items/BGWVJGLC"],"itemData":{"id":155,"type":"webpage","title":"It's Time to Push for Free College","container-title":"NEA","URL":"http://www.nea.org//home/62740.htm","language":"en","accessed":{"date-parts":[["2019",11,7]]}}}],"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"} (“It’s Time to Push for Free College”) ”.
The impact of this financial constraint highly effect the studies. There are many examples where students are not able to even complete their graduation because of this financial burden. As a matter of fact, the ability of the student to repay their loans highly depends on whether they are graduated or not. According to a study “Just 9 percent of students from the lowest income quartile graduate with a bachelor's degree by age 24, compared to 77 percent for the top income quartile. It requires much more than a financial check of some hefty amount to help and assist the students with low-income. In order to enhance their financial literacy rate, a proper commitment from the administration of university as well as the faculty members are required to identify and then remove the minor financial obstacles standing in the paths of students.
