Owing to an increase in the use of technology it has become an essential part of our lives. People irrespective of their age depend on technology to perform their daily tasks. A computer is a machine that can perform multiple arithmetic and logical operation through computer programming (Levy 258). A computer is both digital and electronic. The main purpose of a computer is to perform various functions such as data gathering, processing, storing and information dissemination. Computers are also used to control large machines that were previously controlled by humans. Today, computers are widely used in every field. For instance, computers are used for educational purposes and are also used in healthcare facilities, and businesses.
In the past computer were only used in large industries or by large organizations for multiple purposes. However, the use of computers has changed owing to the development and advancement in the design and functionality of a computer (Dusick 129). Now computers are not only used in small organizations but are used at homes as well. The computer had a great impact on our daily life (Clements 1997). They facilitate students in attaining knowledge while also facilitate shop owners and banks in managing their data. Although, there are other devices such as mobile phones and IPad, etc that are widely used yet still these technologies cannot replace computers.
Many brands in the market develop computers. IBM's personal computers are the version of the IBM PC compatible hardware platform. The company IBM originated from the bringing of multiple companies together that worked to automate complex business transactions. In 153 on 7 April IBM launched its first commercial computer named 701. In 1981 IBM IBM introduced its first personal computer known as Acron that had a memory of 16KB along with 8088 processors (Harreld 21). IBM is well-known multinational computer technology. IBM holds more patents than any other technology-based company in the US holds.
