Essay: Climate Change

There are many things to discuss and explore but every topic has not been found interesting to the readers which engage them and lean them forward to search for more about that. Hence, Climate Change is one of the most controversial topics in the current time. The topic of Climate Change has been selected because everyone prefers and wants to learn about it. Climate Change is a global challenge that has no borders while it needs coordinated effort by each of the nations to combat (NASA, N.P).

A huge amount of people do not know what it means to either because of deliberate misinformation or unreliable information available to them. Hence, this has led to a series of myths about the concern. In this essay, we tackle the topic from an objective, scientific viewpoint, where we are going to discuss the main causes and consequences of climate change and how it can be managed or tackled.

It can be stated that there is a very common misunderstanding exists among the public and people that they think that climate change and global warming are a single concept. But, there is a very huge and clear difference between these. Hence, global warming and climate change are not one thing while global warming is a source that causes climate change (NASA, N.P). Additionally, global warming is just a single aspect of climate change. Life, global warming refers to an increase in global temperature because of the increasing concentration of greenhouse gases while climate, on the other hand, refers to increasing changes in measures of climate over a long period of time which mainly include temperature, precipitation, and wind patterns. So, based on this difference, stating the causes and consequences for both of the terms as same (climate change and global warming) can be considered as one of the critical mistakes people do (Urry, 51-54).

Proceeding further, for having engaged readers of the work or essay written, it is crucially important to cover each and every possible aspect of the topic. So, for achieving the objective and purpose, the most importantly noticeable and main causes of climate change are but not only the following.

The greenhouse effect is a natural process in which some of the heat of the Sun is retained by the atmosphere, allowing the earth to keep the required condition to host life. So, the issue is that the routine activities of human beings maximize the effect of the greenhouse at a huge pace, leading to cause the planet temperature to increase even more than normal. Further, according to the experts of this particular field, the main turning point was the industrial revolution when the emission of the greenhouse effect gases inflowing the atmosphere started to soar. It is also the fact that the industrial revolution itself borne out of a number of small revolutions such as demographics, agricultural, technological, and transport revolution which creates a new model of manufacturing and usage (Urry, 51-54).

In short, it can be said that the main and the most major impacts of was the increase in the global temperature of the planet that has shown a rise of 1.1oC since 1750 where there were only 800 million people on the earth while this number is 7.5 billion. Though it has been estimated that at the end or after the end of the current century, it is predictable that the thermometer would touch the number of 2.7oC in the case that national commitments regarding reducing emission are satisfied (NASA, N.P).

Proceeding further, discovering and exploring some of the most unwelcomed consequences of climate change is also a phase/part of the essay.

The most disastrous and unpleasant consequences are brought by the global temperature, risking the survival of flora and fauna of the earth that even include human beings. One of the worst impacts of climate change contains the melting of the ice mass at the poles, which in turn grounds rising sea levels. So at the result, this further produces flooding and threating coastal environments by which the small island states risk disappearing even entirely. Beyond that, climate change also increases the occurrence of highly fierce weather phenomena, fires, drought, the death of plants’ pieces and animals, flooding from lakes and rivers and bad destruction of economic resources and food chains (Keenan, P.P. 148-162). These inversely impacting factors or destructions can be witnessed mostly in the developing countries or nations.

How Climate Change can be avoided?

There are many statements of researchers, analysts, and experts about how climate change can be avoided and most of them and even all of them state that climate change cannot be avoided as we think and plan for it. It has also been come to understand that it is important for everyone to know that climate change cannot be evaded. While, we have only one way to prevent ourselves from climate change and that is “we can mitigate the impacts of climate change and can adapt to each of its consequences (Keenan, P.P. 148-162).” For example, we can do fight with climate change by the application of both small and large scale measures which assist to slow down the concern (climate change). All of these actions are known as climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
