What are the Global Impacts of Global Warming?
Global warming is referred to as the elevation of average global temperature due to the gases produced by the increased level of greenhouse gases; resulting exclusively from human activity (UCS n.d). A bulk of literature unveils the incorporation of human activities as a compelling precipitating cause behind increasing levels of global warming. This point does not require further elaboration that burning of fossil fuels is the chief cause of temperature elevation because burning results in the production of gases that weaken the ozone layer; paving way for dangerous ultraviolet radiations to reach atmosphere and affect the biotic and a-biotic factors on earth.
Global warming puts adverse effects on humans and their environment in many ways i.e., rising seas and increased coastal flooding, longer and more damaging wildfire seasons, more destructive hurricanes, frequent and intense heat waves, at risk national landmass, increasing and costly healthcare concerns, severe weather conditions, heaver flooding and precipitation, damaged marine and aquatic ecosystems, frequent droughts, forest death in rocky mountain regions and so on (EOS n.d).
Impacts of global warming are evident through above mentioned events. A systematic review—aimed at exploring the concerns and perceptions of common people about global warming and its impacts—propounded that common people is now fully aware about the adverse impacts of global warming through frequent and devastating hurricanes and elevated outside temperature. Moreover, with the increasing concerns about the impacts of global warming, individuals demonstrated active willingness to donate and pay for its instant mitigation (Joireman, 2010).
The need of the hour is to contemplate and explore the global solution for this global issue. Improvement is still something achievable but only when each individual scrutinizes his behaviors and actions and harmonizes them with the demand of current environmental situation. This can be done by alleviating the use of electronics and tools that release the chlorofluorocarbons and making the ozone layer immune to UV radiations (FB 2019). Moreover, individuals must choose leaders and politicians with profound insight about the adversity of this issue and intent to implement effective strategies accordingly.
