Calvin
John Calvin is a theologian who claims that God has created the universe and is concerned about human life. Human beings must fulfill their obligations towards God such as by avoiding evil and doing good to others. Calvin’s theology emphasize on piety that is based on the knowledge on God. He has focused on divine activism that promotes the message of following laws of nature created by God. Calvin’s wisdom and evangelic culture stresses on eliminating evil from the world CITATION Tho171 \l 1033 (Humphries). The emphasis of his philosophy is to encourage humans to do good.
Calvin’s theology claims that gospel has set men and women free. Christians must accept the glory of God that leads to their own benefit. His philosophy promotes the ideology of social good. He believed in sovereignty of God and explained the significance of salvation. His ideology states that God has created the universe and he gives the gift of salvation to the people who choose his path. God has the power of judging people according to their actions. Calvin has emphasized on distinguishing between right and wrong. Christians must be able to avoid evil and sins for attaining peace and salvation. The teachings of Calvin also states that people will be treated according to their acts. Those who committed sins and created discord will be punished by God CITATION Tho171 \l 1033 (Humphries). The philosophy also suggest Christians to choose the right path and avoid harming fellow beings. Calvinism has rejected the concept of injustice by claiming that humans must be treated with fairness and equality. He also advise Christians to follow the teachings of Jesus such as staying humble and helping others. The concept of salvation is important for attaining inner peace and satisfaction.
