Q.1 Discuss the concept of equality. Do you see equality happening in our society? Why or why not? Describe your personal observations of inequality.
Equality is a concept which states that every individual in a society must be provided equal rights, no matter what. Furthermore, equality states that every individual has an innate right to life, freedom, social services, and opportunities (Henslin, 2015).
Yes, I do see equality prevailing in our society most of the times. Everyone enjoys the freedom of speech, can buy land and property.
However, I have once witnessed an incident of inequality in a restaurant where a waiter refused to serve a homeless person.
Q.2 What global forces are affecting the U.S. economy and politics? How do those global forces affect your own life? Discuss.
Global forces have always born a significant role in shaping the economy and politics of the US. According to me, the biggest global force that is affecting the economy and politics is the issue of global warming and environmental degradation. No matter what the impact of the global forces on the politics or economy is, the ultimate sufferers of it would be the general population. We have seen severe hurricanes and tornadoes ripping apart land stretched over miles, heatwave gripping our cities, and harsh winters as a result of changing the global pattern. These are the things that affect us directly.
Q.3 In the once popular television show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, did this show depict a typical American family? Why or why not? What is going on with the American family today? What historical events have played a role in shaping American family life? What do you see for the future of the U.S. family? How do religion and education impact the future of the U.S. family?
In my opinion, the television show Gene Simmons Family Jewels did not reflect typical American household because the ostentatious lifestyle is not afforded to the majority of the US citizens. The increased divorce rate, women playing an active role in the society, and change in attitude towards marriage is what is wrong with American household today. Religion and education must be practiced to have a positive future.
Q.4 How has technology affected your life? Be specific as to what changes, and in what ways.
Technology has affected society in both positive and negative ways. People have become more productive with the use of technology. I have become more productive as with the use of video recording I do not have to jot down lectures. It saves a lot of time.
Q.5 Do you believe the long-term consequences of increased technological dependence are going to be good or bad? Explain. How do you see technology's effect on society 20 years from now?
I have mixed feelings about the long term consequences of increased technological dependence. But I think there would be bad complications. It is because people will have more and more psychological and social issues due to increased dependence on technology.
