Experience on what I learned
My overall experience in this psychology course has been so enthralling. It is the course, which improved my perspective on a variety of concepts such as learning and development, classroom management, and special education. This course taught me about different kinds of development among students which should be comprehensive in a sense that it entails moral, physical and social development among students. The course is also quite informative as it explained different theories, for instance, behaviourism, constructivism, and respondent conditioning in the learning process. The concepts about the process of learning were more clarified with the intrinsic, extrinsic motivation among learners. This course shared teachers' perspective as they consider curriculum is the sole guideline for learning which makes it overall a robotic activity. This is not healthy as schooling and learning should be diverse.
Furthermore, the theories opened different facets of development with the help of psychological studies by Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Abraham Maslow, and Lawrence Kohlberg. Each of these famous psychologists worked on their area of a child's development and catered their moral, social, psychological, and cognitive needs. I found this course quite empathetic in the sense that it gives attention to special students as well. Special Education should be a part of the normal education and no one should be left unattended in this noble activity. Justice and morality are explained in great length in these theories. Finally, more attention is also given to the science of classroom management which changed my mind in a real sense. This strategy is an innovative measure with the proper focus in directing and moulding students' personalities. Classrooms are the spaces that are designed for adequate learning and understanding, so they need to be equipped with all the necessary tools and measurements. In this way, this course proved informative because it helped me understand the dynamics of pedagogy. The most important thing is the classroom management which I found the most innovative and most ignored aspect as well. In short, the rationale behind effective study spaces is the most essential piece of information which should be a regular part of all learning institutes.
