Biological Psychology Worksheet
The biopsychological criterion assesses the ability of the animal to choose which of the actions to perform reasonable actions are identified with such a choice (as opposed to the rigidity of instinctive movements). The biological perspective presupposes that behaviors, thoughts and feelings can be explained by bodily processes. The focus of biological psychology is often the nervous system and the brain, this part of psychology is called neuropsychology. Here you can look at how different parts of the brain control different areas, such as memory and language. One also examines how different chemical substances such as hormones and neurotransmitters affect us mentally.
Historical branches like dualism and monism used to create this new branch of psychology. Dual nature of reality studied in dualism and monism is related to the concept that nervous system is something that phenomenon based on matter and energy in terms of universe. This is rather an object of psychobiology (here in particular of ethology) and is thus attributable to biology. As a branch of scientific psychology, biological psychology explores and elaborates behavior and psychology as of genetics, evolutionary aspect , physiological functions, particularly the physiological mechanisms of the nervous system.
The origins of biopsychology as a psychological subdiscipline go back to the founders of modern scientific psychology Wilhelm Wundt and William James. Wundts basic work, Principles of Physiological Psychology (1887), is considered a landmark in all modern psychology. James begins his major work Principles of Psychology with a chapter on brain functions and behavior (The functions of the brain). One important example from past is of Andreas Vesalius a physician who acknowledged physiological psychology for the treatment of emotional illness. (Bernstein, 2018).
Biopsychology is on the one hand a sub-discipline of psychology and firmly anchored in the academic training as a certified psychologist as a basic subject. On the other hand, it is a branch of neuroscience, the latter transactions with the whole of those developments that are connected to neural constructions and procedures. Neuroscience is primarily fed by neurobiology, neurology and psychology. A central concern is like biological psychology is the clarification of the functioning of the brain in connection with mental processes (Kalat, 2015).
.
Biological psychology having relation with other disciplines like sociology, biology, anthropology, education or neuroscience. Although biological psychology has a central basic theme, it is subdivided into a number of important sub-areas. These differ on the one hand with regard to their priority research questions, on the other hand with regard to the typical investigation paradigms and the methods used.
