Gender
The current research is based on the psychology of men and women while utilizing their play preferences. As this research tends to focus the general stereotypical approach for the men and women regarding their play activities. The current research suggests that there is a significant difference in the preferences as well as in the psychology of both genders. Hence this is not a stereotype to have gender-specific play activities. In this way, the title of the article also points at the significant aspect to which the researcher has suggested that girls playing with doll and boys playing with cars and guns is not a stereotype but, it is the manifestation of their psychology. For the support of this argument, the author proposes that men and women have distinct interests and needs, and that is the reason if a similar toy is provided to them both will behave differently considering their nature.
Furthermore, the author also supported that along with the interests and play preferences, the biology of a child also play a role in their choices and behaviors in accordance to the toys, as by the hormonal manipulation it has been found that preferences can be altered. The behavior and play act regarding the toys in a child are also regarded as involuntary, however, according to the research they can be changed. For example, while playing with the guns and cars boys always tend to show their power and rough attitude, but if they are made to play with the dolls in a respectful manner that will further affect their behavior and psychological development as well.
Based upon the argument of the authors and literature, if gender equality is imposed through the use of making a child play with different toys, such as boys with the doll and girls with the cars and guns, then eventually it will affect their natural development by altering their preferences.
