New Voice of La Raza: Chicanas Speak Out (1971) aimed at promoting feminist freedom. The movement stressed on demanding women empowerment by giving the basic fundamental rights. The Chicana movement highlighted the issues encountered by the females and emphasized on providing them better status and independence. The movement covered numerous aspects including the free and legal abortion rights and marriage in Chicana style. The central claims of Mirta Vidal stated that women have right on their bodies and they must be free to take any decision.

The movement remains one of the historically significant events due to its contribution to women empowerment. Vidal mentioned, “Chicana motherhood should not preclude educational, political, social and economic advancement” CITATION Gar97 \l 1033 (Garcia). The argument of Vidal stated that it is unfair to restrict women to houses and confine them to their roles of motherhood. Women must have equal opportunities to progress economically, professionally and academically. The purpose of the debate was to raise concerns about the injustices encountered by the females due to the typical patriarchy. The argument also claimed that the responsibility of motherhood undermines the themes of independence and progress that is wrong. This leads to a broader claim that females must possess the liberty to take a decision regarding their lives. It must be their choice to decide what they want to do with their lives.

Vidal promoted feminism by demanding free legal rights for abortions. She claimed that the society or males must not possess the right of abortions. It is a mother's choice to decide what she wants to do with her body. This reflected the bold views of Vidal that convinced the supported of Chicana movement to stand for feminism. The movement promoted the belief that abortions must be legal because if women want to pursue their careers, education or attain a better life they have a right to do so. Vidal stood against the typical society that restricted women from taking a bold role by leaving their homes. She claimed that females have goals and a better role to play in society by contributing to economic progress.

The argument presented by Vidal further uncovered the unequal employment opportunities between males and females. the Chicana movement recognized the unfair system and stood for the rights of the females. Vidal claimed males, "are actually opposing the struggle of every woman in this country aimed at changing a society in which Chicanos themselves are oppressed" CITATION Gar97 \l 1033 (Garcia). She criticized the role of make dominate society and its negative impact on women empowerment. Males discouraged female freedom because they are inclined to see them in oppressed states. The males have always acted against the freedom of females because they want to cling to the ideology of male chauvinism. This culture has caused destruction and deteriorated the personality of females. The women must stand for their rights because they must be free to choose about their life whether it is about education or marriage CITATION Alm89 \l 1033 (A. M. Garcia).

The analysis of the Chicana movement and the role of Vidal depicts that the central emphasis was on changing the role of women by demanding equality and freedom. The argument presented by Vidal stated that women must be free in their choices and have every right to decide about themselves. if women want to pursue their careers, education or attain a better life they have a right to do so. Chicana movement stood against the female oppression and unfair practices that discouraged women from entering the professional field.
