Policy evaluation
It is important to measure the effectiveness and evaluation of the plan. Different tools can be integrated for measuring the effectiveness of the policy. The most important step in examining the practical role of policy and plan is by finding how it impacts the patients and the healthcare system (Kelly et al., 2014). As the purpose of policy is to assure provision of quality care and saving lives of patients so the critical step is to evaluate outcomes.
An appropriate way of measuring the effectiveness of the plan is by taking feedbacks from the patients. At the end of treatment or service, the patients can be handed questionnaire or asked to express their satisfaction. The patients who expresses their satisfaction will confirm that the plan was appropriate. Another strategy of measuring the effectiveness is by considering the turnover of patients and findings the number of recovered patients from hospital’s data (Kennedy et al., 2014). This will provide clear idea of how many patients have benefited from the plan. If more patients have recovered then this can be used for understanding the effectiveness of the plan. This reflects that it has fulfilled the needs of patients. However if only limited number of patients show signs of improvement then plan is ineffective.
One of the most practical methods of measuring the effectiveness is by taking feedbacks from RN/ APRN. This is because they are experienced and have experience of handling patients directly. Nurse could explain better how the plans have impacted the patients and the overall quality of care.
In future the states must pass law for making it essential to take feedbacks from RN/APRN. This will help in improving the overall process of conducting unbiased and reliable measurements. Relying only in the medical records of the hospitals is inadequate.
