Organizational Policies And Practices To Support Healthcare Issues

Organizational policies
I agree with the post of Charming because it highlights the issues faced due to the shortage of nurses and appropriate strategies that must be adopted. I think this is one of the critical issues faced by the clinics and hospitals due to the high admission rates of patients in emergency situations. Every year there has been increase in the number of patients visiting emergency for cardiac issues such as heart attacks. Hospitals have also reported shortage of staff specifically during high patient turnover. These factors undermine the efficiency and performance of nurses. Most of the time patients have to wait for longer that increase the risks of death CITATION Rol17 \l 1033 (Mudallal, Othman, & Hassan, 2017).
I think it is important for the state and healthcare institutes to take certain measures for addressing the issue of nurse shortage (Aiken & Patrician, 2000). A agree that there will be sharp increase in nurse shortage by 2030 because number of patients visiting hospitals will increase. Nurse burnout is a common issue reported by the nursing staff. It has been revealed that nurses who are under pressure or get inadequate time for rest are unable to perform their duties effectively. It is also reported that the chances of committing medication errors and diagnostic analysis also increase (Spence et al., 2001).
I think it is important to hire more nurses and allowing certified nurses to joining hospitals after receiving trainings. This will prevent nurses from getting overworked and they will manage to perform their duties more efficiently (Van et al., 2012). Motivation strategies can be adopted such as reward for best and attentive staff. It is also possible to integrate stress management strategies such as giving counseling services to the nurses CITATION Rol17 \l 1033 (Mudallal, Othman, & Hassan, 2017).
