Introduction
Well-being could be seen as the evaluation of how an individual feels about himself, physically as well as mentally. It is all about thinking, relationships and feelings along with the goals that are being set by the individual himself. Mental health could be said, positive if it is related to the emotional and social well-being of communities as well as individuals. Mental health and well-being include individual’s life experiences. Mental health is greatly influenced by gender, sex, religious beliefs and life experiences (Graham,et,al,2018). Pieces of evidence show that mental health can define the life of an individual whether he/she would be a productive part of the society or not. Researches proved that negativity related to mental health and well-being hinders the growth of natural potentialities and cast a negative impact on education, work and relations as well.
Discussion
Mental health and well-being are one of the main concerns for most of the researchers and all the concerned authorities that are working in the medical health field. There has been found a direct connection between social care and the above mentioned two topics. Pieces of evidence show that there is a remarkable increase in the promotion of well-being and mental health because there have witnessed a drastic increase in morbidity and rate of mortality. Rate of mortality is increasing with the increase of issues related to mental health and personal well-being. According to the World Health Organization, well-being makes a person realize his own potential. It is the main element that helps a person for coping all the situations and stress of life (Gu,et,al,2015). All the positive things and works that are directly related to the fruitfulness and productivity of life mainly depend upon mental health of an individual. There is no doubt that both well-being and the mental health of individuals are the main aspects that are becoming a reason for most of the issues that the world is confronted with. Studies have shown that having good mental health or being mentally sound does not means just being absent from illness rather it is all about being physically and mentally fit.
World Health Organization is promoting awareness in people that they have to be careful about their mental health and well-being that is the most important thing for surviving in this world. There are many things that make up the personality of individuals and both well-being and mental health are main factors that makeup personalities (Salomone,et,al,2016). Studies have proved that there are many factors or elements that influence both mental health and the well-being of the people and these factors could be biological, environmental, social and psychological as well.
Both mental health and well-being have been observed greatly influenced because of structural factors that include job, education, and freedom from violence, discrimination, and resource that are necessary for fulfilling the basic needs of life. These are some factors that are going to have direct impacts, both positive as well as negative, on the life of the person (Hassan,et,al,2016). It has been seen that there would be a complete change in the life of two individuals and groups. One is the group in which the people are having all the things and they are enjoying good life where they are having adequate education and a good job from which they are earning good money also having the freedom to choose things by their own choice. They are also having all the basic resources for meeting the basic needs of their life. By having a deep analysis of this type of life, it could be said that it’s an ideal life. Having an ideal life simply means that one would be having good mental health and well-being. Mental health and well-being are the things that would determine what sort of interaction an individual is going to have with other people. Mental health and well-being are also the things that would determine mainly the reaction of people that how an individual is going to react if he/she would be confronted with a certain situation.
Well-being and mental health also gets greatly influenced by community factors. Community factors include the connectivity of community and the sense of feeling of belonging to a place or the group. It also includes the activities that would be promoting diversity as well as social support that would encourage people to participate in social activities. The well-being and mental health are greatly determined by the community and the societies where individuals live (Rikkers,et,al,2016). If a person is growing up in a positive environment where he /she is getting the support of the community then definitely there will be positive effects on the well-being and the mental health of people. Similarly, if the individual is going to have negative feedback from the community in which he/she is living then it will also affect their development.
Another major thing that also greatly affects the well-being and mental health of individuals are individual factors such as ability for handling thoughts. These are the thoughts that guide how to cope with the situations, stress, and things that are difficult to handle most of the time. It has been seen that as there are many factors that cause hazardous effects on mental health and well-being of people likewise there is a great demand for therapies and treatment. People who have good health can still have underlying emotional problems and mental problems. This could be caused by a physical imbalance in the brain, stress, family problems and stressful work/education can make it worse.
There are certain areas that are focused more by the professionals who are there for supporting people. According to experts, people go through many mental health issues, are suggested to spend more time with family. Attachment to the family is one of the main things that must be given more attention. Closeness to a family member is one of the most important elements that help an individual for improving his life by getting help from family attachment. Though there is no doubt that family support and attachment are the most important things, but at the same time there are other things like support from social relation, help and encouragement from surrounding atmosphere that support well-being of people. Economic security is another major element that influences mental health and well-being of individuals. There have been given many suggested for building healthy bonding with others for having sound mental health.
Conclusion
Many pieces of research have proved that mental health is the state of well-being. If a person would be mentally fit it would be a kind of guarantee for his/her well-being. Well-being is a state in which an individual realizes his/her own worth and start knowing how much potential one has. By taking an in-depth analysis of many studies, it has been seen that mental health is not just being absent of any mental disorder rather it is something that tells a person about the productivity of an individual that how capable a person could be (Rice,et,al,2016). Health is a sense of complete social, mental and physical fitness not just absence of ailment and disease. It has been seen that not only there are certain types of treatments, also there are many other types of things that could be used for facilitating lives of people who may be having an issues regarding their well-being and their mental health could be improved by inculcating in them certain skills such as social skills.
