Making a Difference
A famous social thinker Chuck Hegel says, "the only thing that is constant in life is the change". Change is something that human civilization cannot abandon at all. It is the essence of humankind. Everyone in human strives to create a difference whether in his own life or in others' life. Besides, making a difference becomes even more important when one occupies a privileged position in society. This corresponds well with the policymaking position when a policymaker is bound to make certain healthy changes in people around him. In order to make a difference in society, consensus and clarity of leaders are very important. Policymakers need to bring all stakeholders on one page to launch systemic and sustainable changes in life (Frieden, 2017). For instance, when devising a policy for women or children in California, it is very important to negotiate the terms that are favorable to every stakeholder in the process. It is never a viable option to implement those actions that have no consensus at all as such measures do not last long. All such vulnerable and unheard group must be taken on board to make and enforce pragmatic legislation in society. Any future policymaking in health care needs some consideration. Several factors such as cost, accessibility, and quality should be an intrinsic part of that policy for women and children in the area. Bereft of these vital ingredients, any policy will lack positive outcomes. Therefore, a more pragmatic policy should be such that makes women and children direct participant and direct recipients of the positive change ADDIN ZOTERO_TEMP (Orszag, 2016). All basic health care facilities have to be at the doorstep for these vulnerable groups. Costs must be lower, and there has to be more quality in healthcare services as they should not feel that quality is being sacrificed for lower costs. Hence, for any effective healthcare policy, vulnerable groups must be consulted beforehand and effective healthcare service must be readily accessible to them at lower costs.
