Article on Agriculture
Agriculture brought a rapid change in the development of human societies. There are numbers of positive changes happened due to agriculture revolution like people become able to produce more food with less effort and time. However, the author argued that agriculture has negative consequences as well, which make the evolution of agriculture as the worst mistake in the history of the human race. The first argument that the author gave was that food today is less nourish than in the past. In the past, the hunter-gatherer diet was much healthier than the heavy grain consumed by people today. Second, expansion of agriculture brought the inequality and class division in society. Before agriculture revolution, people were more satisfied than contemporary time. I think the author's arguments make sense. The government is trying to bring equality in the nation which was there when people go for hunting just to fill their stomach. There was no competition or greediness of wealth, but after engaging in agriculture, people are now trying to get more profit and wealth.
The way agriculture revolution brought some positive as well as negative consequences; industrialization also brought rapid change. In the past, Americans were against the wilderness, and they worked hard for technology advancement and innovations to make human life easier. However, in the process, issues like pollution, waste production, soil depletion, biodiversity depletion, and habitat destruction changed the perspective of Americans. Today, the nation is more concerned for the wilderness as forest. Wild animals are necessary for a healthy ecosystem. Wilderness is the factor that can help to clean water for drinking, clean air for breathing, help to recover from vast waste production, and loss of wild animals. In past America, was more concerned about civilization and growth in term of economy, and society but today they are focusing on the quality of life and increase in life expectancy which is impossible without wilderness.
