The internet has been instrumental in helping people with conducting research. Surely, there are significant benefits of using the internet for research. Additionally, there are several disadvantages to the usage of internet in research. The benefits and drawbacks of using the internet for research purpose are discussed ahead.
The biggest advantage of using the internet for research is that it has made the life of many students easier. It is because the students can easily find information on a wide range of topics without having to work too much. Students consider it as a treasure because they can just write a topic and internet would return the relevant results. Furthermore, another advantage of using the internet for research is that an individual can use the internet from any place to carry out any sort of search. (Gosling and Winter, 2) Therefore, the internet proves to be convenient in research. Additionally, the use of the internet in research saves time. Before the internet was invented, one had to consult numerous books and journals to just conduct research which often proves time-consuming. With the use of the internet, one can purchase and download books and articles for conducting research, which is far more time-efficient (Gosling and Winter, 3).
Certain disadvantages accompany the use of the internet for research purposes. For instance, one can easily found themselves lost in the labyrinth of the internet. Another disadvantage of using the internet for research purposes is that there is often less credible information found on it (Gosling and Winter, 5). Moreover, references are central to any sort of research. However, the internet may contain references that are either fake or unverified.
