MLA style of citation
Modern Language Association style, commonly known as the MLA style of citation is mostly taught to the students of Liberal Arts and Humanities. All the MLA styled papers use a 12-point double-sized font in Times New Roman or Courier style. Also, all the pages are numbered at the top right corner of the page. This is the style of citation that is taught nowadays to high school students. Most scholars think that this style is preferable for most high school students. This is due to several reasons. First, this style does not require the student to produce a title page. This is important as most students lack the necessary skills required for using word processing software such as MS Word. They struggle with the exact dimension of producing the required title page. Second, it is the simplest style of citation as does not require the student to remember a lot of diverse requirement to put in the page title, the paragraph title and numerous other things that are required during producing a research paper or an essay. According to the Purdue Owl “[The Document] is organized according to the process of documentation, rather than by the sources themselves”. The title is simple and centered and all the new paragraphs begin with a simple bold heading on the left side of the page before the paragraph starts. This is very important as the academic journey of a high school student is on the first step, and a lot of diverse bunch of details can cause a serious level of anxiety in high school students. Lastly, this style of citation helps the average students to grasp the seriousness of the accusations related to plagiarism. Till the start of high school, an average student has simply no idea how serious this issue can be for his academic career. This simple style of citation helps him to produce credible papers in high school and his further academic endeavors.
