Should Violent Movies be investigated?

Introduction

The author Noah Gittell write an article "Not All Movie Violence Is Created Equal." The article revolves around the idea that not all movies are created equally as violence content in each film is different. Therefore, there is a need to investigate that violent content as dynamic content changes the behavior of people. Bold movies influence the nature of a person, and in response, a person develops aggressive tactics. The reaction of a person depends upon the type of content that they see or hear. The brutality in a movie will make many people uncomfortable, but some of them get thrilled due to such stuff in the film. Videos show that violence and murder can be a tragedy, political purposes or a way to harness others. Moreover, the sure movie showed that the killing of a person could have a goal.

Noah Gittell demonstrates that there should be a check and balance on the violent content in any movies. Directors and producers often want to make their film more thrilling therefore they take account of violent content. In the New Yorker, Nick Thompson states that “It's time to talk about guns, but it's also time to talk about a lot more” (Gittell, n.p). Producers and directors tend to include gun scenes in their movie, and such shooting scenes change the mind of a person. Fiction films contain unrealistic violence content that is dangerous for people as they began to think about such weapons which are more destruction than other weapons and that may get invent in the future. “Looper," "12 Monkeys", and "Seven Psychopaths" are movies that took violence to a step further. Violence is very vivid in such movies as characters receive a vicious and extended beating. Some movies make violence more dramatic by showing shooting scenes in extremely slow-motion. No doubt, most people get thrilled by brutality and shooting, but it makes some of them uncomfortable. In the Atlantic, Laura McKenna states that “the shootings made her reconsider giving Halo 4, a shoot-'em-up video game, to her son for Christmas” (Gittell, n.p). That’s the thing which scares people as they don't want their children to see such content. Moreover, exposure to violence in media represents a significant risk to people, especially children. Violence content affects the internal function of the brain as aggression is a trait that gradually develops in the nervous system of a child with time.

Media is playing an essential role in shaping public opinion. However, the violence in the media is continually increasing and reaching proportions that are dangerous for society. According to research, it is found that an average American spend 5 hours of his/her watching television and movies. Most self-involving video games and films contain violent content to some extent, and that violent content can make a person think aggressively. Noah Gittell in “Not All Movie Violence Is Created Equally” argue that movies contain magnetic material which changes the behavior of a person. Violence content in the movie influence a person to do organized crime like these has been done in movies. US Secret Service and the US Department of Education states that over half of the attackers use violent tactics from movies to execute their violence. Noah Gittell demonstrates the fact that media violence can contribute to fear of being harmed, nightmares, desensitization to violence, and aggressive behavior. Violent content in movies reveals the bitter reality of society.

Noah Gittell argues that violence has been an enduring part of civilization as people often taken a morbid interest in awful things. Such claims of the author are un-doubtfully true as people prefer to watch that movie which contains aggressive and violent content in them. Violent movies change the mindset of people. Therefore, it becomes a horrible fashion in modern society. Noah Gittell demonstrates that there is such a movie which shows that the murder of a person may have some political aspects as well. Media is revealing the bitter reality of a society that politicians have sufficient power which they can implement on the community. However, these movies are creating a negative image of such politicians through which people may change their mindset about politicians. People might consider that politicians can take revenge by killing any person and may not get caught due to their supremacy in the country.

Noah Gittell’s claim that movies like “Killing Them Softly” gives people an idea about the robbery. The film is about petty theft and several bloody scenes to remove hurdles. When people watch such movies, they began to think about how easy a robbery can be as a person only need a gun to rob a bank or any shop. Such films change the mind of a person towards negativity. Short term exposure to such movies increases the likelihood of aggressive thoughts and aggressive emotions along with a physical and verbally aggressive behavior as well. Conclusion

Noah Gittell is his article claims that violent content in movies increases the likelihood of aggressive behavior. Youth is more vulnerable to such violent content as they spend most of their time watching movies. The author claims that exposure to media violence makes youth behave more aggressively. Therefore, governments should need to keep an accurate monitoring system to investigate violent content in movies. Media violence is indeed not the sole for aggressive behavior in youth. However, parents should need to reduce the screen time limit for their children.
