I think the engagement in wars and weaponry devices leads to high risks for the world. The role of the military is in the first video reflects the engagement of the military in the conspiracy. The wrong treatment of the military with people of small town results in the wrong perception of audiences about the army. The armed forces turn against people of Dokdo and he faced sanctions due that limits his ability to test his military skills. The second perception that the Americans develop related to the US military in the first video includes self- interest. The video reveals the negative role of the US military due to its engagement in destructions during the Vietnam war. The military engages itself in the disposition techniques that reflect the darker side of the military CITATION Rob161 \l 1033 (YouTube). The first video portrays the engagement of UA army in different activities like engineers are erecting the bridge.
The video highlights some of the activities performed by the military during the war. It reflects how the army set up its camps and was on red alert. Their special forces camps were set for keeping eye on suspicious activities and monitoring the region. I learned through the video that the army had to carry their week's supplies of ammunition because they had to spend some time on the selected territory. The demand for ammunition was always high because the army was not sure when they would be attacked. The troops had to cross through water so they established bridges. This required huge manpower and energy. Forgetting the relief supplies the army had to reach the trucks on time. The bridges were also constructed for making way for the trucks. I also learned that for the firing mission the army had to set the place from where they could target easily. This required a lot of intelligence and leadership skills. The army was shelling against the attacks of the enemy. Where they fired a shell the enemy withdrew from attacks. This reflects a defensive strategy adopted by the US army. I explored the purpose of shelling was to make the enemy run away. In the video, I also witness the use of guns when the enemy was near. The army continued to fight for several hours and there was no break or rest. I learned that there were many black Americans also in the war and were taking the role of army men. This added to my knowledge about the significant roles of Africans played in American history CITATION Rob161 \l 1033 (YouTube).
The second video presents the CBS report on the Vietnam War. The Draft Lottery is a live report on the lottery numbers. I learned that it was for the first time in the US history that the spherical services headquarters drew lottery when America entered into World War II. The United States started a draft lottery that was famous for its pick. The video provides an in-depth analysis of how the draft lottery worked such as the double zeroes were read in a different way CITATION CBS11 \l 1033 (CBS). The video explains that a particular system was used for conducting a draft lottery. No such lotteries occurred in the US history for the previous 27 years than World War II. Birth dates are selected for the draft lottery.
The third source that is an article explains the reasons for war and its implications. The Vietnam war was the result of the cold war and America lost its prestige. The article explains that around two-thirds of the American troops volunteered for the war. While the remaining military services were selected by the draft. I agree with the description made earlier about the perceptions of the audiences. I believe the audiences watch the realistic side of the wars and military. I learned that when someone’s name was called they had no option for denying their participation. Everyone had to follow the orders and take part in the military when they were called. It was a complicated task for the draft board members to choose the people for the war. They were often pressurized by the family, friends and relatives CITATION Tom13 \l 1033 (Valentine).
I learned that only limited people volunteered for the war while the majority were selected through the draft system. People were selected randomly for the war and no excuse was selected by the youth. My encounter with the article allows me to reveal the fifty percent of the people who participated in the Vietnam war was working class while 25 percent were poor. This reflects that only a few came from the upper class. This reflects the disparity in the selection criteria. I learned that very few people were willing to take part in the war while the majority included the poor. This indicates that the draft board had pressurized the poor and the people belonging to the lower-class. The rich had only volunteered because they were rarely chosen by the draft board.
There had been significant criticism on the draft dodgers. They claimed that the selection criteria was not appropriate because it targeted the poor only. The draft dodgers were viewed as cowards. The article also explains the culture of Vietnam draft lotteries. I learned that the men of eligible age were allowed to take part in the lotteries. The protests against the war remained a significant part of American history during the 1960s.
