My research process followed some steps for studying the problem of the selected topic “Gun Control”. The primary step was to identify the problem for research. I determined that gun control has become one of the leading issues in America due to the fact that citizens have easy access to guns. Step 2: was to conduct literature review. In this step I found adequate case studies, articles and reviews fro understanding the relationship of guns with crimes. It was revealed that guns have been the cause of increased deaths. Step 3: was to clarify the problem. This required identifying the issue and its implications on the society. I managed to build relevance of the easy access to guns with ineffective law and order situation. In step 4 I defined the concepts and terms related to the selected topic for adding clarity. In step 5 I defined that population that was facing high threats such as common American citizens and students. Step 6 was to collect relevant data from credible sources. Step 7 was the analysis of data and linking it with the topic. Final step was to organize the paper.

I conducted research by fining recent case studies about gun control. The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School is used as a leading case for highlighting the problem of gun culture and ownership in America. Secondary sources are used for finding relevant data on the topic. Laws related to the firearm and gun culture are evaluated for studying how effective they are in controlling gun related crimes. secondary sources including articles and journals are taken from credible databases such as Criminal Justice Law. Empirical evidence is also used for studying the issue in depth and for determining the factors that have contributed to the increased deaths associated with gun culture.

I collected data about the rates of deaths and gun ownership for building the association between them. Credible sources were used for finding relevant data about gun related crimes and its easy access by citizens.

I was studying the problem of guns in America and solved the problem by suggesting some solutions. I mentioned some actions that were taken by the state for controlling gun sales and easy access such as The Brady Act, signed by Bill Clinton in 1993. The purpose was to explain that all efforts taken to control guns in America had been failed due to the lack of support from the House. I also highlighted some effective measures taken by the state for providing security such as in 17 states, including Oklahoma and Florida, an employer cannot prohibit employees from carrying weapons to work or keeping them in a car on site. These facts depicts that the state has been serious in taking some actions for controlling this issue. I also suggested the need for enhancing the security and gun control measures because the death rates are increasing.

I found data from popular sources such as Criminal Justice Review that is a database for criminal studies. I also used the credible sources such as Criminal Justice Policy Review for analyzing the role of policies in controlling crimes. Book published by Rutledge was also used that is a leading publishing company.

I learned through this research the steps that are essential for conducting research. I also learned that after choosing topic the most important thing is to find relevant data. Literature review allowed me to learn the techniques for choosing credible and reliable sources. I get a chance to do this research differently I would try to use primary survey by analyzing perceptions of officers.
