Rhetorical situation is a scenario in which you have to know your topic and audience to convey the intended message successfully. In such case, the writers need to know the intention of their writing well as expectations that they have from their audience. This one time I was working on a letter that was intended for a government official. I needed permission to a piece of land that was off limit. I was writing about the history of that land as it held a historical position in the city. The letter was intended for the mayor as the property was in the direct jurisdiction of the mayor, so I had to be very careful. We did have the permission to the land but after the letter was modified multiple time. So I can say that I acted as a good communicator because we got permission on my first try.

Genre defines the type the category of any writing and base on this style of a paper intended audience and the direction of writing is decided. The genre is the response of a writer towards a situation and based on this response the material, and the intended audience of writing is decided. Each type of paper has a different tone, and the tone of a paper is different for each audience. The email of apology is different than a casual text message. "Most of the press release writer try to be as brief as possible and aim to answer the questions, Who? What? Why? Where? And When?"(Genre, 23) So before any writing, these five W's needs to be considered so that to determine the genre of any paper and its target audience.

A resume is the genre of writing that can be considered most familiar. The intended action of a resume is to show the profile and achievement of a person. The resume can be recognized through its style, and the way information is arranged. A resume describes everything briefly through short description, and it is used to convey information. The pattern of any resume makes it easy to be recognized, and the genre is repeatedly used so that the people can quickly identify professional details of a person easily.
