Organ Donation

1. Do you agree that allowing a poor person to sell an organ is an exploitative practice? Why or why not?
In my view, allowing a poor person to sell his organs is not an exploitive practice only when the procedure is done using appropriate informed consent. I would support my argument using Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs in which he defined six basic human needs in hierarchal manner. Basic needs encapsulate food, water, shelter, clothing, safety and security needs that humans tend to fulfill at every cost for ensuring his survival. At the 4th level, there comes the need of self esteem; respect, dignity and values. The poor is concerned more with the fulfillment of his basic needs rather than self- esteem needs present at the 4th level. Hence, organ donation provides an excellent opportunity to the poor to fulfill their prioritized needs. Only those prioritize dignity and exploitation that get their bellies filled with enough food along with the certainty of next meals.
2. In the essay that you are writing right now, what kinds of evidence have you found? In what way might it meet an audience's expectations? Name the audience, discuss how it may meet--or not meet--the audience's expectations, and explain why.
In the essay that I am writing right now, case study and research literature is used for supporting arguments. My audience are of three types; academic professionals, peer group and common people. For the academic professionals; peer reviewed research articles may better meet the expectations of the audience because their preferences might be high in terms of scientific evidence; they might find the reliability of essay debilitated in the absence of scientific literature. For the common audience, case study might prove the best supporting evidence because it is readily understandable for them and statistics and systematic evidence do not grab much of their concern. As far as peer group is concerned, both case study and research articles might meet their expectations. Hence, my essay provides evidence for all the audience to meet their expectations and face validity of the information.
