The first essay is about the sad tale "Sonny's Blues" by James Baldwin. The essay attracts the reader’s attention in the opener by detailing what the s discussed story is about, where it takes place, and the time it takes place. It is also positive to note that the introduction outlines the author and title of the story. The introduction also outlines the thesis that the paths the two brothers take in the story show the reader that although both the brothers took part in drastically differing ways, suffering follows down the chosen routes. Every paragraph is organized in several vital points. The quotations in the first three paragraphs are also well explained. However, there could have been more aspects described in the paragraphs with regards to the quotes, such as "darkness" traditionally being related to Sonny's personal story through the blues. However, the conclusion manages to summarize much of what the discussed story is about remarkably.
The second essay is about “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe. The introduction indeed has an attention-getting opener, as it starts with a statement that begs a lot of thinking; there many strange people in this world. The introduction also outlines the discussed story’s author and title. The introductory paragraph also ends with a commendable thesis that fear, death, and guilt stand out as a common theme throughout the whole story. There are also quotations in all the paragraphs, which are adequately explained. The paragraphs also generally revolve around a particular discussed point, which is commendable. However, some of the parts left unexplained in the essay includes expounding on the gothic side of the discussed story and how this can be viewed in the discussed characters. Nevertheless, the conclusion indeed manages to summarize the main points, including a commendable ending as well as agreeable suggestions. These include the statement that as it can be noted in the story, everything someone does has a consequence.
