English: Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana is still considered a controlled substance by internal law and regulations. There is a huge number of people and groups in the jails because of the offenses which are marijuana-related specifically people of color. Marijuana is now legal for adult use in almost 11 states and by the District of Columbia while 33 states have legalized marijuana in some forms for medical purposes. It is the concern of many states to legalize marijuana on the federal level (Speights, N.P). This is one of the main concerns of the states because they think that legalizing marijuana would improve the social equity, safety, and would generate tons of billions of dollars as revenue based on the legal cannabis business.
Marijuana is going to be legalized because many states have some credible and crucial goals at hand. The main and almost the most credible goals are;
To ensure and provide justice and equity for the people and groups convicted of marijuana use and possessions.
Ensure provision of regulation and oversight of the industry of marijuana or marijuana industry (Policy-Yang2020, N.P).
To generate the estimated and expected amount of revenues
Beyond that, more than 10 states in the world are expected to generate a billion dollars cannabis market in less than 5 years. It is a fact that the legal marijuana industry is building before our eyes. The case of marijuana is almost similar to the case of tobacco (Speights, N.P). Tobacco was not considered legal earlier but with the time, it got legalized by the laws and rules and now it has the market all over the world, have huge investment and companies involved in the industry.
Based on the findings of Archive Market Research and BDS Analytics, the international licensed store cannabis had sales of 3.4 billion dollars in 2014. While just four years after, in 218, the sales reached to 10.9 billion dollars (Speights, N.P). Based on these statistics and growth rate, the ales of marijuana is expected to be 50.6 billion dollars before 2024 while it should be kept in mind that this amount or figure does not include pharmaceutical sales made by general retail stores.
One of the best and finest examples can be the statement of Bernie.
“Legalizing Marijuana: We will legalize marijuana and vacate and expunge past marijuana convictions.” Bernie.
There are 20 states which are expected to be legalizing marijuana and the duo of goals they have at hand, they are expected that they will be legalizing the adult-use cannabis by 2024. The main and highly expected and concerned states are;
California
Michigan
Arizona
New Jersey
Alaska
New York
Colorado
Maryland
Connecticut
New Mexico
Washington
Illinois
It is important to note that almost 11 states out of the 20 states shave already legalized recreational cannabis, its use, and sales.
Based on the statement of Bernie, Bernie would legalize marijuana in the first 100 days with the executive action by;
Nominating an attorney general, HHS secretory, concerned administrator for the DEA who all would work to aggressively end that drug war and legalize marijuana.
Immediately issuing a proper executive order which would direct the Attorney General for the purpose of declassifying marijuana as a controlled substance. While the congress also has to move aggressively to finish up the drug war and undo the damage it has, while the president Bernie would not be waiting for the act of Congress (Policy-Yang2020, N.P).
The state and president would also be passing the legislation to make sure the permanent legalization of marijuana.
Beyond that, the president also states that they would be investing the revenues from the legal marijuana in the communities which have been hit badly by the War on Drugs especially the African Americans and other communities of color (Bernie, N.P).
