Introduction

The movement of people to a specific destination country, where they neither possess citizenship nor are natives (Berry 5). Specifically, discussing the US, it is also known as the melting pot, a place that welcomes immigrants from all over the world. This paper will discuss the topic of immigration in detail, along with its potential advantages and disadvantages.

1st body paragraph

According to the statistics, more than 44 million immigrants were residing in the US in 2017 (Ewing 6).

In the US, the history of migration goes back to the time when Europeans started to migrate to the US (Glazer 256).

Moreover, many Spanish and French people also migrated to the US to attain trade opportunities. 

The interaction between the Americans and immigrants differs because every nation that came to the US has a different motive for migration.

Some people migrate to attain economic gains (Borjas, 1668).

However, some migrated to convert Native Americans to Christianity. 

2nd body paragraph

The ambiguous relation of Native Americans and migrants can be described as a double-edged sword.

Europeans were pretending to cooperate with Americans when, in reality, they were cutting their roots.

However, today, many rules and regulations are designed to avoid conflict among the natives and migrants (Massey 631).

Although rights are given to migrants yet still they do not have that much freedom.

Specifically, the government has banned the immigration of people who were migrated against their will for slavery (Logan 3).

However, the issue of human trafficking is still prevailing in our society.

Thus, there is a need to revise the policy to cater to challenges such as human trafficking (Krogstad 5).

There are many advantages of immigration.

Immigration aids a country to attain economic benefits.

Immigrants are willing to do types of works that Natives are less likely to do

Migrants can serve as cheap labor (Berman-Rossi 77).

There are several disadvantages of immigration as well. 

As immigrants agree to work on low wags, they hinder the chances of employment of Natives who are low skilled and are struggling to find work (Rystad 1168).

Moreover, issue such as human trafficking is also increased due to illegal immigration.

 Conclusion

This essay explains the topic of immigration, its advantages, and disadvantages briefly.

The first wave of migration occurred in the land of the US when European migrated to the US. Several reasons, such as religion and economic gains, were there due to which European decided to migrate.

Although immigration can increase the economic stability of a country yet still it poses various challenges as well

Due to immigration, issues such as human trafficking are increasing tremendously. Thus there is a need to revise immigration policy and make laws to cater to all the issues that immigration pose.
