His profession had a significant influence on his personal life that he started having dreams about patients. Moreno’s affiliation with the emergency room had psychological effects including anxiousness and nightmares.
To begin, Moreno notes, “police were on the scene long before we were, and they didn’t bother to call it in because they assumed he was dead”. This quote shows that Moreno’s mind was always stuffed with things related to the emergency situation. It also indicates the nature of seriousness associated with emergency incidents. Moreno believes that the police always neglect their duties that increase the burden on the emergency team.
Next, Moreno states, “the bullet had gone through the patient’s optical lobe”. This quote shows that the guy was unable to forget his encounter with different patients. What he viewed in the emergency room haunted him in his dreams. This also reflects concerning the attitude of Moreno towards patients of the emergency department. The sufferings of the patients also cause emotional disturbance to the members of the emergency room.
Then Moreno mentions, “I didn't think I would be able to fall asleep sitting on the rig". This quote shows that the scenes of emergency stayed in the memory of Moreno that created restlessness.
