He always knew he had to do this; at least since the day he had seen it happening in front of his own eyes. He had been planning to do it since a long time, but never found enough courage to take such a big step. Every now and then, whenever he saw his face, his bald head, his smile, his blood burned. His smile seemed like a sneer to him and the shine in the bald man’s eyes seemed like a hell fire burning.

Eric had not been a very pious or religious man all his life but he could not see the wrong happening. Especially after the loss of his only son, he could not bear to see the same happening to anyone else. His son, Mikkal, had died due to the intake of substandard drugs sold by a pharmaceutical company . Since the day his son had lost his life in his arms, Eric had decided not to spare the culprit behind this, so that it does not happen with anyone else’s child.

He started working in Z Pharmaceuticals, from where the medicines had come. He did not know this in the beginning, he had no idea that such things also happen that for the sake of some dollars, people could play with anyone’s lives, but since this happened with his own child, he realized that how selfish and materialistic this world could be. Moreover, his close friend, Sam also helped him in getting a job in the same company. Sam used to work in the same field but did not know that Z pharmaceuticals were in such a big crime.

Eric was still in doubt when he was joining the company, that maybe there is a mistake, maybe all his research was in vain, but he knew, his homework could not be wrong. He had worked a long time to know the truth. He had known about the substandard drugs being made and sold at Z Pharmaceuticals, which I why he wanted to end it altogether.

He had been working in the company for five years from now and whenever he saw his boss’s face, he remembered his dead son’s face . His blood burned with rage whenever he saw that devil’s smile. His boss had started trusting him so much that he had given his family affairs to him as well. But whenever Eric saw him smiling and having fun with his family, remembered the smile of his own son. He remembered him playing and enjoying with him.

Once, a very heavy consignment of drugs was going to arrive and his boss only trusted him to deal with this consignment because it contained a lot of B-graded drugs. Eric knew that only he will be allotted to receive and handle this consignment because he had done enough to win the devil’s trust. He told Sam that he is going to involve the cops in this. He had kept the cops ready, and as soon as the consignment came, the cops came out and captured “the devil”. There was a short exchange of bullets, in which Sam received a fatal one. He died at the spot. “The Devil” tried to elope but the police had got hold of him.

The moment he was watching the bald man going with the police officials in handcuffs, he felt immense peace. Although he lost his best friend in the process, he felt like he had paid the debt to Mikkal’s soul, for which it was yearning from a long time.
