Same-sex marriage
I bet the topic on one sex marriage is one of the top debated topic worldwide and defiantly spreading like world fire. Same-sex marriages have been ranged mixed reaction in different states and countries. The topic has sparked both emotional, social and political crushes for ages. Despite huge criticism from the members of society, religion, and government, more people are diving more into the issue with numerous cases pilling on the courtrooms in countries or state which haven’t legalized this marriage in an attempt to make it legal or less criminality. Same-sex marriage, also interchange with gay marriage, is a form of marriage where the couple is of the same sex.
The perception of ‘traditional marriage has evolved over time and the taste of marriages have also reformed. In the early days, it was unheard or unimaginable to hear a thing about same-sex marriages. I puzzle gays were of non-existence or it was the regime that forced them to act normal. With the evolving times, the cultural and public take for same-sex marriage progressively shifted with other forms of marriage popping up. Same-sex marriage is one of them. Generations have changed and we are not in the 90’s and so my take on gay marriages.
According to research done by anthropological Association among other research institutes, evidence has the support that homosexuality is a natural occurring of normal human sexuality and not a choice. (Herek 2006). With this, I believe the class of people should be given the opportunity to develop and build their relationships, raise children and also build families as normal marriages or other forms of marriages do.
Those opposing the move claim that homosexuality is unnatural and abnormal. Gays are there hence vied as outcasts and filthy sinners worse than murderers. Religious groups believe in a "supreme” law or rather God's will for marriages to remain to the opposite –sex marriages. Marriage is for procreation; others have argued. (Widiss, 2007). Many political icons in the past have also been in contradiction of the same-sex marriage with Obama being the first sitting president to support gay marriages. Whichever the case, I take it as barbaric, archaic and the most uncivilized move to view the gay people as lepers in this 21st century. Same-sex marriages should be upheld and taken with similar weigh as other forms of marriages in the society.
According to the USA government, through a various states court ruling, direct popular votes, state legislation and federal court rulings, the marriage of opposite-sex marriages and marriages on same-sex couples are equally recognized in marriage equality. Backed by this legality, I, therefore, believe it is a fundamental of each and every person to express his or her sexual orientation desire freely without any criticism or either condemned evil by anyone or any religious affiliation.
In my opinion, same-sex couples should receive the same benefits and treatment other heterosexual marriages enjoy. There are over ten forms of accepted marriages, and Same-sex marriage should not be exceptional. Marriage is an internationally recognized and civil right. By nature, humans are social animals. I take marriage is not only for procreation, if so, I guess infertile normal couples and those wishing not to have children should be prohibited from marrying to!
