Language is commonly used as a mode of communication. English is one of the most popular languages used across the Globe. It is considered as a first language by various countries. It plays critical roles in areas such as businesses, education, and medicine. The English language is taught in multiple universities. It is divided into significant specialties, which include creative writing, literature, and cultural studies.

Universities and the English language

The University of Clemson believes that good writing is essential for the success of graduates. The English departments believe that good English writing comes through thinking and learning different forms of written expression and multiple rhetorical audiences and situations. It is being taught in various universities and other schools. However, it has faced major attacks both in universities and society. It has been used to describe multiple popular cultures that are related to various political dynamics. It has also been used to study social issues of people as well (Dong, 2019) .

Literature

Literature involves writing in poetry and prose when giving instructions, entertainment, and enlightenment to a lister or an observer (Murphy, 2019). However, all written material cannot be considered as literature. There are different approaches in which a novel or short story gets to be interpreted. When reading some literature work, we always seek to find the various stories related to culture, power of the society while the characters are individuals. Literary theory helps use in knowing the various things stated in books and stories. Cultural studies bring about themes in creative writings.

Critical theory is used to explain creative writing, as well. Creative writing goes beyond normal writings (Horobin, 2018). It includes expressing your ideas and thought in am more creative manner. Creative writing is thought to be in art form since one is expected to step out of reality to another realm, which is usually inspired by mental fantasy. Through this, one can express his emotions and feelings rather than some cold writing. Various types of creative writings include poems, short stories, epics, screenplays, and novels. In every creative writing, there must be the use of imagination.
