Food is the basic necessity of human life; no human being can survive without food. Food, in any form, is required for the survival of a person. The quality of food a person consumes, improves with the quality of their life and the health of a person is determined by the quality of food they eat. Many people, including us, have a good lifestyle and they are blessed enough to afford a good meal all three times of the day but there are those individuals as well who cannot afford a single meal. There are a number of such people in the United States of America as well and a large number of such people are young children (Warnock). A restaurant, named as Denny’s, has come forward to end this issue and provide the children of the US with healthy and nutritious meals.

World hunger is one of the biggest issues being faced by our world currently. There are many countries in this world where hunger is prevalent. People living in those countries do not even get the necessary portion of food that is necessary for survival. They do not get a single meal a day because they cannot afford it. The reason is evidently poverty and the lack of resources. Most of these countries are present in the continent of Africa and include Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Chad, Libera and some of them are in other areas as well like Yemen and Afghanistan.

Surprisingly, the United States of America is also not free form the curse of global hunger. According to the figures of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) there are approximately 40 million people in the country who are struggling with hunger. An estimated 12.3 households in the US are currently facing the issue of hunger. The most affected age group due to this issue is children. 1 out of every 6 children, does not know where he may get his next meal from or whether there will even be another meal or not.

Many organizations, either at a governmental level or non-governmental level, have taken initiative to improve this situation. Currently, there are a number of programs and campaigns that are being run by various bodies, in order to cater to the curse of hunger, especially among children of the United States. One of the encouraging facts and trends that has been observed is the great interest of restaurants and food chains in the process. There are a number of restaurants and food chains in the United States that have pledged to contribute and end hunger in the country. One of the most prominent contributors among them is Denny’s.

Denny's has pledged with the “No Kid Hungry” program and has decided that it will arrange up to 10 meals for a child in the United States, against $1. In its “No Kid Hungry” program, it requests its customers to donate only $1 to the restaurant so that it can be used for the benefit of the poor and hungry kids CITATION Sta18 \l 1033 (Staff). The donated amount will be completely tax-deductible and will be used to arrange 10 healthy meals for the hungry children in various parts of the country.

In addition, the management of Denny’s, issued a press release on Feb 15, 2017, in which it pledged to donate $1 million to the “No Kid Hungry” program. The press release, titled “Denny’s Helps to End Childhood Hunger in the U.S. Through $1 Million Donation”, intends to provide 10 million healthy meals for children suffering from hunger issues in the United States of America CITATION Hut17 \l 1033 (Hutwagner).
