Humanities include branches of knowledge which attempt to study aspects of human culture and society. In simple words, study disciplines that focus on human beings rather than divine mythologies are called Humanities. This is the reason that the term contrasted divinity during the Renaissance era. Humanities include literature, ancient and modern languages, law, history, religion, and politics. The purpose of research in Humanities differs from both Social Sciences and Natural Sciences in a sense that social sciences attempt to examine how societies work and whereas natural sciences explore the rules Nature works on, but Humanities disciplines attempt to explore how human societies developed in certain way.
Social Sciences appear nearer to Humanities than Natural Sciences as social sciences also attempt to examine and explain human beings, but Humanities are more philosophical as they deal with moral and ethical questions whereas social sciences are more scientific as they examine contemporary societies and human beings to explain which rules and societies work on and what could be the consequences (Cochran, Susan, Stamper, and Cochran. N.p.). Social sciences include contemporary and recent literature, psychology, sociology, law, and linguistics etc. social sciences research method use quantitative researches methods to explain societies unlike Humanities. They use public surveys and books written on currents scenarios to reach conclusions.
Natural Sciences are different from both Humanities and Social Sciences as Humanities attempt to explain the evolution and ethical significance of human values being critical and skeptic towards religion and divinity whereas Social Sciences attempt to study human beings and societies scientifically, but Natural Sciences focus on the functions of nature and attempt to explore and explain how Nature works. Natural Sciences include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and many other branches where only lab experiments are acceptable. Natural Sciences evolved after scholars like Francis Bacon and Descartes encouraged scientists to value experimentation rather than mythologies to explain the Natural functions. Therefore, research methods used in these disciplines are experimental.
