1) To help you prepare for your Cause and Effect essay on donating or selling organs, brainstorm general topics of interest and conduct an online inquiry as to possible causes and effects.
Selling organs is the feature of this modern medical science. There are indeed several causes that promote the selling of organs: poverty is at top of the list where people sell their organs to pay off their debts or to pay their college fee. So, when poor people sell their organs due to their miserable life, it produces more desperation for them and threaten their survival even. As a result, poor get poorer and more vulnerable than before.
2) We are continuing to work towards our Cause and Effect essay on donating or selling organs. Watch the local news or go online and read news as presented through CNN, Google, or MSN News. Choose a current story or news event of interest. Create a list of causes for the story or event. Discuss at least three “whys” (the causes) that led to the event and three projected plausible results (the effects) from the event. Your reply should discuss a total of three causes and three effects. Support each cause and result with an explanation.
An article in newspaper “The guardian” reported in 2015 that, “Iran is trading in selling kidneys.” CITATION Ale15 \l 1033 (Alesi & Muzi, 2015) This was primarily of the reasons that:
Iran is not yet out of poverty and low per capita income
Iran considered it a legal act to sell the organs
Iran views it humanitarian, not exploitative in nature.
However, the effects are:
It has become a trade business in the country
Poor masses are even more vulnerable there
Cash-prizes upon selling organs make people more prone to it and give rise to organ trafficking
3) Do you agree that allowing a poor person to sell an organ is an exploitative practice? Why or why not? Do you agree that allowing a poor person to sell an organ is an exploitative practice? Why or why not? What documented examples from real-life organ donors can you provide to help you demonstrate how a regulated human organ trade would (or would not) be exploitative? If you were writing your definition essay on the term exploitative, how would you define it?
Allowing selling organ is not noble for anyone and the poor masses are no exception. This selling organ is an exploitative practice because it throws light on the complexity of .It makes poor people more vulnerable and it adds insult to the injury when they are forced to sell their organs out of the severity of their life CITATION Mec07 \l 1033 (Meckler, 2007). However, some consider it humanitarian in approach. Mackenzy story of organ donation is an example of the regulated organ trade. This Calgary kid saved four lives with organ donation, but this was not exploitative as it was based on “free will”.
4)There is common wisdom that states, “Correlation is not causation.” Explain in your own words what this phrase means. Now, read the current draft of your cause and effect essay. Consider how you might revise your essay in light of this saying. Describe what revisions you might need to make to your essay to ensure that your argument is logical, plausible, and realistic and does not present an argument that is illogical, far-reaching, or unrealistic.
Correlation is not causation as it is merely a connection between things. Sometimes selling organs is reflected as humanitarian and it is connected with the noble ideals of humanity. But it is practiced by poor people and it becomes exploitative rather than noble in essence. Exploitative acts are not based on free will and so is the case with organ selling. The revision of argument is only necessary in the case that there must be some space for donors who are doing it freely. But it is mandatory to regulate that organ trade to make it more ethical in ideals and substance.
