Battered by storms
“Battered by storms” by Arable is an article which discusses the impact of climate change on the life of farmers. The article is mainly focused on the hail storm that has occurred in the Belvoir. He described that the hail storm had damaged the buildings and cars along with crops. It is one of the most cardinal facts in the article because hail storms are generally considered as harmless and the link between hail storm and destruction of crops is rarely created. Another vital information present in the article is that hail storm is a serious issue and it needs immediate attention because harvesters are the victims. The author elucidated the fact that trends of harvesting are now being changed because of the changed weather conditions. Like he stated that the practice of elderflower harvesting is now changed. Lastly applauding the science for maintaining the crop yield is another vital information but the author believes that further efforts are required because this is not enough.
The reason I choose this particular article was that the author is very blunt regarding his opinion about different aspects of society. Another reason is that this article highlights the destructions caused by Hail storm which is termed as something very normal according to the people. The article throws some light on the fact that simple change in the weather is detrimental for crops and it should not be ignored. This title of this article gave the impression that storms are destruction. It is the thing that created curiosity for me since it is a general notion that rain is good for land and storm is a harmless thing that accompanies rain.
So to cap it all, the above discussion sufficiently proves the fact that changing weather is harmful to crops and the science should make rigorous efforts to counter this issue.
