Question 1: Student 1 (José Hernández )
Machine Translation has helped companies and professional translators to provide a translation that is as accurate as possible. Many companies use Machine Translation in order to expand their business and products everywhere around the world. In doing so, they have to make sure that they provide their products and business in the same language. That’s when Machine Translation comes in place and provides a proper translation.
Hospitals and medical clinics depend on professional translators and Machine Translation. Due to the high demand of different languages spoken, hospitals have to be able to meet all of their patient’s needs in order to provide a service where both the patient and doctor are able to communicate properly understanding each other even when the language spoken is not the same. Same goes with paper work needed to be signed and filled out. The patient and hits family members need to be able to understand what they are about to sign before a major surgery or checkup occurs.

The answer of the student is well composed and well equipped. The first line is a hook and sufficiently explains the central theme of the answer. In the first paragraph, the student has explained the importance of Machine Translation general and the second paragraph was focused on the use of Machine Translation in the health care system. The arguments placed by the student were good and valid. The strongest point of this answer is that the student has used simple sentences and smooth transitions which makes the text easy to understand.
Question 1 Student 2 Salma Nawar
Machine translation is crucial to the success of most modern day businesses. The majority of global brands require the use of machine translation to enhance their business practices and adhere to the market around them. Human translation, while the original form of translating, just can't keep up with the power and technological advancement that is machine translation.
Travel and tourism companies like Airbnb utilize machine translation to expand their consumer base and offer diversity in their services. Translation services have allowed them to provide information in several different languages. This expansion has paved the way for more revenue to be generated for the company.
Response Student 2
The answer by the student seems incomplete and weak. The first reason is that the answer contains a few vague sentences like the last line of the first paragraph. I feel that the student failed to build a relation between human translation and machine translation. Thus the sentence and the idea is incomplete. I agree that Machine Translation is useful for travel and tourism companies and arguments present in the answer are valid but more details would have made the answer stronger
Question 2: Student 1(Salma Nawar)
Machine translation quality will remain a challenge for a long time. As far as technology has advanced, there will always remain downsides to it. It will never be perfect and it will never be as good as human translation from a native speaker of the target language. Machines mess up. That's just a fact of life. They don't take into account the culture surrounding the language they are translating into or the meaning. They just perform word-for-word translations, like machines.
This can be addressed through people going in and checking after the machine translation has been completed. While the machine can translate the words, it can't confirm that the words are cohesive with their flow. Word-for-word translations almost never work because they don't make sense grammatically or in the cultural setting in which they are presented. Machine translation might get to be on a human level one day, but today is not that day. So, for now we still need to go in and make sure the machine didn't mess up the meaning too badly.
Responses Student 1
The student has explained everything efficiently. The arguments placed in this piece of writing are strong and well explained. Both the paragraphs are focused on one main point and the transition is smooth. I also agree with the student that technology can never compete with human intelligence and thus one should not rely completely on Machine Translation.
Question 2: Student 2 (Nabaa Almaziadawi )
Machine translation quality remains a challenge simply because computers will never replicate to human cognizance and experience. The programming of the machine translations have come a long way, but still, they are designed to scan the limited mathematical characters of languages, missing out on the depth of semantics, pragmatics and cultural nuances.
The way to approach this challenge is of course is to continue hiring translators who will simultaneously correct translations and contribute to the acceleration of the machine translations through providing a scale for the BLEU score and adding the pattern of fluent language to the memory guide. According to American Translation Association, “the results of MT will typically have to be post-edited manually, unless the content owner feels that its readers will tolerate errors and non-idiomatic style”(ATA). Overall addressing machine translation development is tied with following Akorbi’s emphasis on technical services which include video interpretation and MT developments; however employees with linguistics talent must be at the forefront scrutinizing translations and actively editing errors.
Responses Student 2
The idea and employees with linguistic talents hold their place and should remain at the forefront is a solid point which reflects the inability of Machine Translation to compete with human intelligence. Another strong thing in the answer is the presence of references which validates the points and it explains the position of Machine translation effectively.
