In situations where patients and nurses hold different beliefs, cross-cultural awareness is the most critical thing for nurses. Nurses need to be aware of the patients beliefs, and after carefully analyzing patients viewpoint and principles, they should be given the right treatment. Also, an effective approach of simulation framework must be considered while making decision.
Once I was dealing with a patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder, his condition slightly got better, and he decided to go on a one-week trip to a hilly area the next day. However, considering the condition of the patient, I found that rest and a proper medication were the suitable options for him. The patient was stern about what he decided and was not willing to change his decision. To cope with the situation, I got help from a senior doctor to advise the patient to change his decision, and this tactic worked.
If a patient is making an unwise decision, I would go through their complete history, and by keeping in mind the best treatment, I would explain to them as to what is better for them by giving relevant examples, and if possible, I may take help from a senior doctor to guide that patient.
There should a certain limit on patients empowerment (Fumagalli et al., 2015). If health providers think that particular decision by the patient doesnt go to their favor, then healthcare or doctors advice should hold weightage.

Michelle Moccias post about the ways to interact with the patient to get satisfaction level (Darrah, 2019) from their viewpoint holds significance. Like Moccia, nurses should develop trust with patients so that they can feel comfortable while discussing their issues with nurses. For this purpose, introducing yourself to patient lessens anxiety, and nice smile make them feel comfortable.

Summer Bryants comment regarding mistakes made by nurses during communication (Darrah, 2019) is noteworthy as nurses need to understand that patients have different needs, and depending on their problem, the discussion should be tailored, i.e. the same type of conversation may not be suitable for every patient. Therefore, nurses must analyze the situation closely before interacting with the patient.
