Workshop 4: Introduction and Conclusion
The “Dark Knight Rises” is one of the phenomenal superhero films with excellent cinematography directed by Christopher Nolan. The scene that I have selected from the movie is “Bane’s attack on the airplane”. In any film, the entrance of a villain plays a key factor in grasping the audience’s attention. In this particular scene, the villain's psychotic tendencies were reflected the minute he started to threating the people on the plane. The scene starts with the CIA agents along with Dr. Pavel and captive hooded mercenaries entering the plane. They wanted to relocate Dr. Pavel. Bane’s aim was to kidnap DR. Pavel. For this purpose, he disguised himself as one of the hooded mercenaries. After his revelation, he along with his accomplices overpowered all the CIA agents while managing to escape on time and leaving the agents to die in a plane crash. To protect himself from getting caught Bane made a strategy in which he poured Dr. Pavel’s blood on one of the dead men in the plane (Jonathan, 2012).
For every individual scene in a film, there is a motivation behind it. The director of the film Nolan was highly influenced by the stunts in the James bond series and therefore being a fan of James bond book, his motivation leads him to direct the Bane's plane scene in such an incredible way. While talking about Bane’s entry in a particular scene in which he hijacked an entire plane was a result of the James bond series motivation and Nolan’s creativity. Another motivation behind this scene was to create fear of a villain psychotic tendencies and what will happen next in the film among the audience. Bane is considered as a key element in the whole scene as the brutality he showed in this scene depicts to what extent he could go to achieve his motives and his potential of being the worst enemy of Batman in the film.
