What makes America great?
I am here today to express my thought on the topic “What makes America great?” As an American, I feel that the best part of living in America is the opportunity to live the American Dream. The freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom to become who we want to be are all factors that make America great. Thanks to the American tradition that we are a part of the nation that guarantees liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness. Margaret Thatcher says and I quote, “Americans and Europeans alike sometimes forget how unique the United States of America is. No other nation has been built upon an idea, the idea of liberty.” This shows the uniqueness of the state.
Dear audience,
Our state is blessed with all the great big things such as technological advancements, beautifully structured buildings, well-constructed roads, higher education, and much more. For 240 years, the patriotic Americans and all successful leader have worked hard to establish this nation. We waged wars against poverty, fought for our moral values, created the world’s largest economy, and made sacrifices to make this nation as great as it is today. Imagine the world without internet. The survival of humans without internet has become impossible now days. It was the US military my friends, the US military that invented Internet, and we have made this world a global village using that tool of communication.
Dear fellows,
We are a patriotic nation that loves its country. The flag of USA is not seen only on Independence days or public or national days, rather we display our flag everywhere in the country. America is also an economically wise nation. The Americans care about the global perception as it helps us grow economically. Tourism, Foreign direct investment, and International trade are helping in investing to the country’s economy.
Americans are the most liberal and open-minded people in the world. It’s probably because of the diverse population and the Civil Rights movement in the state. Within the last few years, the American culture has become extremely modernized and spread out all over the world. I believe that Americans share nationalism, sense of pride, and love for their country. We are an exceptional and unique country and I am thankful to God that I am a part of this proud and great nation.
The foreigners have mixed perspectives about the greatness of America. While some of the foreigners looks at Americans as an arrogant nation, others describe this nation as ridiculously friendly. Some people who are not a part of the admirers of America describe it as “ugly” because of the increasing crime rate and violence in the country. The angry and deep racial divisions, right to carry weapons, and harsh restrictions on Muslims and Mexicans make them feel harsh and bad towards our nation. An immigrant from the under-developed world when comes to America, he finds out huge differences in the standards of living. The roads are clean, traffic rules, signs are accurate, and clear, things can be easily bought from the big American stores that have a variety of things. One thing that the critics of American society point out is that it is a racist society. However, the truth is that this great American nation has gone too far in the establishment of the equality of rights.
Dear audience,
I would like to conclude my speech by saying that America, a land of opportunities, is really a great nation because it believes in democracy, liberty, freedom, and the right to have a good life. I feel proud that I live in a wonderful country with high standards of living and high security.
