The Wild and the Human
The Grizzly Man teaches us that nature is quite deceptive and extreme. The consequences of nature can be quite dangerous for human beings. In nature there are predators, and the common denominator of nature is not harmony but murder, hostility, and chaos. It is the harsh reality of wild nature that it did not set into its emotionalised view that everything in nature is good, in balance and harmony.
Many biologists believe that several mistakes may lead to the death of Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard. Treadwell's decision for not having any precautionary measures against bears and behaviour around them may lead to this incident. As Treadwell had carried repelling spray of bears during the start but then he stopped carrying it as Treadwell believed that it was not right to spray irritating pepper on bears.
I did not believe that anthropomorphism contributes to Treadwell's death as it was only his mistake that he avoided using precautionary measures such as repelling sprays which may become the cause of his death.
Yes, there are many factors in nature which is against the interest of human beings as there is nothing in wild nature that is considered to be harmonious and in balance.
I believe that nature is not itself cruel, but cruelty involves in nature. As every creature in this universe is born for efficiency but not for cruelty. Creatures eat others for survival but not to harm anyone. For example, human beings consider beef steaks but not the cow in the field.
William Cronon defences his argument by quoting and examining those wild men of the nineteenth century. Cronon made a connection between the extent by which nature can be seen as subjective and his way of emphasising the cultural. He questioned the movement of the environment in order to avoid its proceeding on intellectual foundations.
