Department of Health announces awareness month for AIDS
Washington: [Januray 19th, 2019]
On account of world's AID day, Sunday, December 1st, 2018, Department of Health announces and declares a month of December as an awareness month for AIDS. Almost everyone knows what AIDS is. It is the deficiency of autoimmune syndrome which has infected more than 1.2 million individuals in the United States. In the era of 1980s, when this disease came out, very little was known about it. People thought it deadly, aggressive, and debilitating with no cure and treatment. People were stuck in fear because of zero awareness. Nowadays, due to high research and awareness, this disease is better understood. Till now, there is no permanent cure for AIDS; however, individuals suffering from this disease can still live longer by adopting special measures and limited treatment.
The awareness month was announced in an event held on December 1st. It was an effort to appreciate the work of healthcare providers, honor the people who lost their lives to this disease, supporting individuals who are fighting with this disease and most importantly to put efforts in increasing the awareness about the disease.
AIDS or Acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome occurs due to the contamination of HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. This infects the immune system's cells and disturbs their functionality. The disease spread when an infected body like semen, blood or breast milk through direct contact.
AIDS is the most important novel pathogen that appeared in the 20th century. The virus of AIDS alters widely and depicts high hereditary range and thereby postures substantial challenges for effective reconnaissance and infection control. The Department of Health is much confident that this awareness campaign would be much effective in controlling the deadly disease (Gong etal., 2017).
