The Journey Continues
I would like to welcome all my teachers, my fellow graduates, faculty alumni, friends, families, and all the distinguished guests on behalf of the class of 2019. #welcome
In the current times of social media, I guess its best to talk in the language of hashtags and pop culture. Keeping that in mind, I would like to give a big shout out to all my fellows out there, “Yes! We did it”.
I would like to congratulate each and every one of you that in a world full of fatal dangers, Ebola, climate change and facial acne, you all still made it and we all graduated. I am very excited today to stand here, at this stage today and share all of my thoughts and experiences throughout these years with you.
Things might not always go like we plan, but trust me, God’s plan may be much bigger and rewarding than yours. William Shakespeare, and also Channing Tatum, once said,
“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them”
Dear fellows, we are all destined for greatness and you can achieve it. Just trust your own instincts and go ahead. Let me share my own story with you.
I have always been excited to be a mother. Since I was young, I liked to play with dolls and act like it was my baby. Motherhood always inspired me a lot and this is the very reason I wanted desperately to become pregnant. So, I, sorry, we, me and my partner, started working on it and finally became successful. Many people think that being pregnant or being a mother makes a woman weak and rob her off her real strength. Let me tell you, it is not true. Carrying a baby in your womb gives you enormous power, it makes you feel like you have been blessed with a great gift and a great responsibility as well, to create a life.
In addition to the dream of being a mother, I also wanted to finish my course of Master of Sciences in Curriculum and Instruction program in six-months, as it was a competency-based university, however, I could not do it. I faced some health issues during the first trimester of my pregnancy and spent most of the time in my bed, sleeping. But this could not keep me away from achieving my dream. I once again pursued the course and, here I am, graduating today, a little late but achieving both my dreams at the same time.
I would only like to advise that never let your fears come in the way of your dreams and success. Do not ever let others dictate you that you cannot this or you cannot do that. Set your own path, set your own goals and go fearlessly in the direction of your dream. Aim Big, Aim High. People will try to scare you, let you down, criticize you, mock you, but it is your job not to let those comments hurt your feelings. Always keep your head and hopes high.
I have many good memories associated with this place, and some bad ones as well. This place made me laugh, cry, sing, dance, love and many other things which I cannot mention here. (lights laughs)
As Charles Dickens says,
“It was the best of times and it was the worst of times”
The class of 2019 has been an amazing time with you. #SplendindTimes
In the end, I would like to say, “Dream Big, Work Hard, Make it Happen, Never Quit”.
Thank you.
